Ryanair and Baby Pushchair Query

Hello, we've done this a few times with Ryanair free flights so don't worry - you don't have to pay to check in for any of you. We took the buggy and booked the little one as a child not an infant even before he was 2, as it worked out cheaper. They never queried his age or having the pushchair, they just take it off you when you get on the plane. Don't panic you will be fine! We did 10 days in Spain last year and managed with 3 kids, buggy, small cases and online check-in... I love Ryanair!
it's not recommended that you book an infant as a child. we did this once on a trip to gerona, we got out there no problem but on the return journey we were queried on our daughters age and told that we had to purchase an infant ticket, even though we had booked a seat for her and had flown out with her as a child. we had to wait in a very long queue that resulted i us nearly missing our plane. ryanair did refund the child ticket we bought but i wouldn't take the risk again, if they had not noticed till we boarded the plane we could have been refused travel aparently. our daughter is 2 in september and it will make holidays so much cheaper once she can travel as a child.0 -
for the buggy you can push it right to the aircraft steps - leave it at the steps and the ground crew will put it in the hold for you. at the other end it will either be waiting for you at the steps (even if you have checked it in it can still be waiting there for you) or it will be first off the luggage caurosell. we have a 3 year old son and a daugher who will be 2 in sept so travel all the time with a buggy and have never had any problems. if there are loads of steps the crew will direct you to lifts etc. we find it easier to check in the buggy at the desk where they will just put a sticky label on saves tryng to fold it at the aircraft steps whe the running race is on for the seats0

I can second this.
I bought a child ticket for our <2 year old once, because it was cheaper than a €40 return infant ticket.
Anyway, at check-in they wouldn't allow it and insisted I purchased an infant ticket at €40.
One thing I must say though, the money paid for the child ticket was promptly refunded to my card - before I'd even had chance to send of a letter requesting the refund.

Hi there, i am travelling from london to knock in april, we have a son who is almost 4 but the flight is late at night so we need the buggy for him to sleep in, problem is we are just bringing hand baggage and didnt want to pay for checkin in at the desk.
the problem is, i have just called ryanair reservations number to see how this works and even though the pushchair is free to bring you have to pay for checking in at the desk to be able to bring it which is 20 quid each way, is there anyway round this as i think 40 quid is a bit on the steep side especially since we just get a sticker.
if anyone can shed some light on this please help me.
thanks, i shall await ur replies!!!0 -
My understanding is if you have had to pay for checkin because you have an infant they will refund the cost to you. But as your son is 4, Im unsure how this works. I am still thoroughly confused by this all.
1. I know that I can take one FREE pushchair with my toddler
2. I know that I can take the pushchair up to the plane door with me BUT
3. Do I have to pay to checkin, just to get the pushchair tagged, and then reclaim my checkin fees afterwards: OR
4. Can I do online checkin, and waltz through the xray machines with the buggy untagged, and take it up to the plane door?
From earlier replies I thought I could just take the pushchair through the xray without having to go to the checkin desk at all but with the most recent posting,I am now a bit more confused than I was to start with...sigh!Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0 -
Can someone tell me how to get the check in fees refunded if only checking in because of an infant please?0

I think you can ask at the checkin and they can direct you to their other counter at the airport. We had to pay extra because a passport had expired and so we couldnt do online checkin, and we were sent to another counter to make the payment - it should then figure that they can refund from simmilar counters..but perhaps I shouldnt hold my breath!! Others may have first hand experience.Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0

Have just been looking into this myself as son will be 2 1/2 when travel & want pushchair for longer walks & want to keep costs down with online check in & hand luggage. Found this on Ryanair website (sorry don't know how to do links so have cut & pasted!)
Checked Baggage Allowance
Checked Baggage is any item accepted for carriage in the aircraft hold, including bags, infant equipment (baby seats/booster seats/travel cot), musical instruments and sports, equipment etc. (mobility equipment and children’s’ pushchairs are carried free of charge and do not need to be prebooked).
I read it as you don't need to check them in (so no extra charges) but would be interested with others interpretations.
Have a good trip.
:beer:Make £10 a day challenge = Aiming for £100 a month
May - £100.68/£100 (£80.68 cash & £20.00 vouchers)
June - £121.04/£100 (£91.04 cash & £30.00 vouchers)
July - £22.11/£100 (£22.11 cash & £0.00 vouchers)0 -
children’s’ pushchairs are carried free of charge and do not need to be prebooked
I havent seen that sentence before - maybe this is a new addition which is meant to clarify the situation (which it still doesn't 100%!!) My interpretation from this is take the pushchair through xray without it being tagged at checkin then.....let us know how you get on bevally!Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T0 -
