Convert to DVD?

Is there a free bit of software (i.e something I can get from somewhere like FileHippo or Download.com etc) that will allow me to convert Mpeg/Avi files to DVD? It would need to make them compatible with your average home DVD player.

I've tried burning them onto DVDRs with Nero, but it doesn't work.

I have some videos from a work's outing that I recorded and I've got them onto my PC, but they are in Mpeg format. I'd like to stick them on to DVDs for my colleagues.

Thanks

Try "AVI2DVD" software to convert file. Then burn using Nero.

    Cheers

Can I use DVD Flick to burn copies of home videos? I mean, I have copied family Video to a DVD (using my Video and DVD Recorder, combined) and now want to make copies of that DVD to send to family. I tried both Burning 6 and 8 from Ashampoo and this failed. I'm using a trial version of Imgburn (which works!) but this expires in a few days.

    Any advice welcomed, thank you.

Thanks for the reply but I just need to copy a DVD. I have no idea what format means, sorry.

I copied a video to DVD and now want to copy that DVD. Sorry if I did not make that clear.

ps, I am going to try a trial version of Nero 9.

you can use dvd decrypter to actually get a copy of the dvd onto the hard drive - since the legality of such a program is questionable, all i'll say is "google is your friend".

once you've got your dvd onto your hard drive, you can use another program called dvd shrink to make a copy and burn it to another disk.

although i think if it's just something you've recorded, there won't be any copy protection so you could just look for a straight copying program.

again, not sure of the legality so won't actually link to 'owt ..

Jason, thanks for reply. The DVD I'm trying to copy is a family holiday video. Not sure where the legality comes into this. It's only a video of my late Mum dancing with my late Aunt.

Norman B, try imgburn, copies an image onto your hard drive then allows you to burn it onto a blank disc.
