Does anyone know if the 18 stores that are closing, those not sold to Head or HMV, are open until close on Friday and if they are selling their stock off cheaper than 25% off?

As Milton Keynes store is confirmed as a closure and if trading until Friday I will go and have a look.

    Thanks

Zavvi, Milton Keynes closed yesterday. Just phoned to check availability of an item, and was told they ceased trading yesterday and are busy today boxing up all the stock.

dunno about everywhere else but passed zavvi in brighton this morning and the 25% signs were still up in the windows with some stock left and staff moving it about but the doors were closed and there was a hand written sign saying the store was closed.

that saved me going in and having a nose :)
It only seems kinky the first time.. :A
  • Yeah in Manchester there are two HMVs on the same street about a minutes walk from each other if that.

i'd say 30 seconds at most

Don't forget the Fopp (also owned by HMV) halfway between the two HMV's

The Cribbs Causeway store had the shutters down when I walked past today and it said on the news today that they are still looking for buyers for that store

why close so early?! way not the start of next months when people have been paid and can buy stuff ready for say mothers day?!

    dont they want money?!
  • All the zavvi stores are now HMV, Head or closed. Head bought all the remaining stock, so we boxed it all up and sent it to one of the 7 Head stores. There was no massive clearout sale, although we spent the last couple of days answering phonecalls to vultures asking what the discounts were! We didn't know if/when we were closing until E&Y turned up and told us not to open that day.

With regards to Nottingham, if the city is big enough for 4 record stores, as far as HMV are concerned it's better for them if they own them all. Not sure how good that is for the consumer though.

I'm gutted that it's all over, working for Virgin/zavvi was an absolute blast. I'd do it all over again.

    RIP zavvi

Zavvi flopped hard. they coulda done a woolies with a massif continuing sale.

allow HMV they r overpriced tripe that never have things in stock.
  • I was in this afternoon. The 25% deal seems to be a front. PS3 game marked up at £44.95 less 25%. I saw point of sales information with what looked like it would be on ongoing concern for some while.
