Thanks anniehanlon, I will definitely look into this option too :-)0 -
you pay bt 11.50 for your line and talk talk for calls made and if you have a package ie 5 pounds free evening calls etc so yes you would get to bills but it could work out cheaper
Nonsense its not cheaper to cps your calls to Talk Talk ?

BT packages also include inclusive 0845/0870 calls and inclusive texts.Talk Talks do not.0 -
Although the TT spokesperson has attempted to recover the situation, you were clearly misinformed when you phoned them. That may or may not sound an alarm to you.
BT state on their website that, in most cases, reconnection is free if a recent BT line existed. The fact you have a dial tone is promising but does not mean the line was still with BT (there are numerous 'line providers' now).One-off connection charge- Connecting a new BT line costs £122.33 (incl. VAT). This charge only applies in some cases, but before we can confirm this we need to check your property.
- The charge will automatically appear in your online order basket, however, once you've placed your order and we've checked your property we'll let you know if it still applies.
- If your home has had telephone service from BT in the recent past, and the wiring and socket is undamaged and the line still has dialling tone, it's likely you won't need to pay this charge. But where there's no suitable BT line available in your property the connection charge may apply
- Most of our new customers find they don't need to pay this charge
- This fee covers engineering work in your exchange or your property in order to connect the line and is subject to survey.
- If the charge does apply it will be added to your first BT bill.
That will tie you into BT for line rental for 12 months but you can buy yourself out of that contract (for £70 IIRC).
If you're having second thoughts though, may I suggest you click on the HERE link in my signature below.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Sky appear to have withdrawn the free phone line connection deal.0 -

Sorry if someone from TalkTalk has informed you we can activate the line. Unfortunatly its not a service we offer at the moment.
Do you plan to offer the service in the near future as claimed by your rep?0 -
" phoned talktalk.......to be told that we would have to pay a reconnection fee of £175 (£107.66) through the post office" ties in with a poster on another forum who works for the Post Office. Seems Talktalk now transfer prospective punters directly through to the P.O. so they can ask to get a new line to get TalkTalk.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

I have not heard anything that would suggest we would be offring an activation service. I can ask some quesitons though.
EDIT ***********************************
Question asked - Official answer is that "we are investigating the possibility of registering new lines" sorry I cant say anything more at this time but it apears that there was some truth in what the agent has advised.
Cheers
