Reduced depth bathroom furniture - Ellis/Mereway?

As title really. Ellis and Mereway seem to have the widest range of depth reduced units.

Lots of companies do shallower units but they don't have a big selection of widths.

We dont have anywhere near us that deals with Shades furniture, for some reason it's just not widely stocked or recommended up here  .

We were told of another company called Montrose who do these units but I've never heard of them and have no idea of quality.

So if we end up choosing from Ellis or Mereway.......which is the better quality? Or is it much and such? Or does anyone have a recommendation for other quality reduced depth units that offer more than just the basic 300/500/600mm widths?

Mereway make really superb kitchens. I have no experience of their bathroom furniture but you'd guess it was the same quality. :)

Bumping this again as I STILL haven't got my units yet. (Please tell me there are other people who there who procrastinate as much as me. :o)

Anyway, I've finally decided what I'm doing and I'm trying to pin down what range to buy. I have every brochure from every manufacturer known to man in front of me and they all swear their units are the best thing since sliced bread.

Since starting this thread originally, I've seen a lot of the ranges in question and they all seem the same to me quality wise. I have no idea if they will all stand up to a working bathroom in the same way though. 2 of the bathroom supply companies near me both recommend Ellis above all others but is that because that's the dearest range they do, I wonder.

Anyone else with any thoughts about:

    Ellis
    Mereway
    Shades
    Rhoper Rhodes
    Symphony
    Utopia

I dont want to get units built, I just want to buy off the peg. Someone make my mind up for me. (If you don't, I'll still be here at Christmas asking the same questions and think how bored you'll all be by then. :rotfl:)

I have recently had bathroom done, and chose Roper Rhodes vanity unit, sink and wall cabinet. I am VERY happy with the quality, it seems really well made (also have RR bath panels-the cheapest plainest ones they did in a wood finish-again seem very good quality) We also got RR taps (online-from tapstore, very good service) and they also seem very solid and well made.
No idea of the other makes though-I think they had utopia in our local suppliers but they were pricey....

What depth units do you need? I fitted standard depth Utopia units in our old bathroom and cut the backs off them to get the depth required for a clean line. It was a faff, but looked good and meant the cupboard under the sink, say, was deeper than if we'd have got the reduced depth and had a void behind it.

In new house i've fitted Utopia again, but as the bathroom is slightly different size, went for the reduced depth and fitted a couple of mm off the wall, again to give a clean line

200mm or 220mm depth at most. There's a fair few ranges in this size, it's just a case of picking the best quality. I dont want to have to be re-doing this for a long time. It's not fun.

    No Andy, it's not. :rotfl:

The Ideal Standard range is very limited in width sizes so isn't suitable I'm afraid.

Oh and btw....I can beat your March 08 date. It's only been about the units since February. ;)

I'm going to pin pics to the wall and chuck a dart I think.

ps.....I assume you have another toilet elsewhere in the house? :rotfl:

I went with Ellis , when redoing the en-suite back at Easter.Very happy

Then the 'boss' went to use the handbasin , the over sink mirrored cabinet was too deep . She felt that she would bang her head

So my last job, was too remove the cupboard , cut 5 inches off the back and re- hung!!

But Ellis seem to be a good buy.

I thought that too, which is why I was just going to have a mirror there instead of a cabinet. :D

Thanks for the Ellis comment, glad to hear someone has them and is happy.

We went to the showroom twice , absolutely no excuses
Saw the set up ..... stood back and admired our choice :D

But we should have tried the handbasin out , would have looked foolish in the showroom , but would have stopped a STUPID mistake.
