I think you've hit it on the head there, Bunny, it's lack of community that's killing it. Back in the village where I grew up, everyone knows everyone. There is a real sense of gelling, like if your car is broken, you know who to take it to for a look at it. Everyone has a skill to give back, lots of skill sharing.
Plus when a young kid goes walkabouts on their own to the shops coz they want sweets, you know who to take them back too (This has happened a couple of times)
Only downside is everyone knows your business and if they only know half the story, they make up the rest. Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

There are so many more forms of media out there now that saturation is inevitable and repitition is rife!
I do agree that being famous for actually only being married to a footballer is taking things too far, i blame posh for that, she was famous for spice girls but she perpetuated the WAG culture too and created a monster!!!
It has been up to a point - but at least fame used to be more about having a talent, e.g. singers, actors, footballers.. always been exceptions but there seems to be more and more WAGs, reality TV "stars" etc.. that 13 year old kid with the baby will probably have his own chat show by next year!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
However, I have to give Victoria and David Beckham their due, they are still together. So often now it's this celeb couple have got married, not long later this celeb couple have divorced. I know divorce happens but some of these celebs have a yearly turnover >.<
totally agree with you there ...but in this there is a new evolution of celebrity status ....so the cycle will continue...i do much prefer it to the get together shack up we love each other totally for ever and ever and were not kidding seriously ...oops no we dont... we really cant stand each other she hurt me he hurt her...she/he did this... but here's my new for ever and ever love of my life that fufills me in everyway ...oh and i have a new video about how to excercise not that i did it i got me fat all sucked out ..do as i say not as i do you know ...culture that we currently have

I grew up in sort of rough part of London, I don't believe for a second anyone (apart from the druggies in the top of the pub) would have laughed at a car accident and like you say, the corner shop, the hairdressers, the betting shop, everyone knew who I belonged to and my neighbours were fab.
I just think the kids round here have no sense of reality or compassion/empathy.Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Good luck with the paper, el, I'll stop stirring your indignation now, lol.Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

but why should they have compassion ? society glorifies in its sickness where is the learning about comapssion and empathy from that ? where can the young people of today learn these skills ...these skills arnt natural you aint born with them you have to learn them ...0 -
I am much better at writing papers on poetry, short stories and novels. And a lot better at actually writing poetry and short stories. Though I am probably a bit rusty on both at the moment. Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

i think that will be an improvement on what i have though lol ... truth to say the paper i have written isnt that bad ...it just doesnt agree with the tutors perceptions ...that and the fact they dont know how to handle me and find me intimidating (moi never) so i think i could get a professor in the field to write the paper and it will still fail:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: oh the power i have:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0
