Neighbours scaffolding partially on my property!!

Update so far..........turns out the council can give you the info of the applicant after all, when you know the right people to ask of course!!! However that didn't get me far as the phone number for the company is out of order and they don't have a website. So I went round to find a 'site manager' which was successful and he told me that it was okay to do what they did because some bloke across the road said it would be!!:eek::eek: Funny because I don't know the man he was referring to!! He also first said that he hadn't seen the scaffold (even thugh he'd walked around on it earlier!!!) and then later he said it hadn't gone up right because the old bloke who was meant to do it had a trapped nerve in his neck, so he sent a couple of young lads instead. Two things a bit wrong there - firstly he said he hadn't seen it so how did he know it hadn't gone up right, secondly the bloke my son saw leap over the fence was an older bloke with grey hair as the young lad stayed on the walkway :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Oh and he also reckoned he knocked the door that morning, but lil son was up and downstairs by 8.30 so would've heard that!!
He seemed a bit surprised that I wasn't happy with it all! He said he would replace all 3 fence panels at the end of the job.......that he said that so readily and easily makes me think they were obviously looking to do that anyway!! He also said that the scaffolder had to come back again at some point so he'll get him to move the pole (we'll see!) and that he had some debris netting to put up and that that should've happened. That was at 12pm today, by the time I got home at 4.30pm the inner second storey wall is almost completed, but nothing has happened with scaffold or netting!Go and dismantle it all, savvy. Or so I'm told.
:rotfl:
Would they even be insured if it's on your property without permission? Could ring the scaffold company and ask them for their insurance company details as you've injured yourself by walking into a pole in the dark you didn't know was there. It's only a bargain if you need it.0 -
Ha ha thanks Hazel, and not far off the truth with my track record!!
I doubt I'll be able to track down who the scaffolders are, it's not been easy with the building firm or developer

got woken up early this morning to hear builders talking loudly and putting up scaffolding outside the front door of my flat. i live in the back corner on the ground floor of a block and our door is under the flat above's stairway back entrance. we have not been informed of the work to take place, they have moved personal property without permission, the poles and boards were left in front of the walkway to the front door and still no one has let us know whats happening, i am on late nights at the moment so need the sleep but it would be nice to have a note through the door or to knock and explain or even better to scaffold off!!!!!:mad:0

Welcome to the forum.
1. Start your own thread. This post adds nothing to the current one especially as its two years since anyone posted to it.
2. Rightly you should be having a go at whomsoever instructed the scaffolders not the scaffolders themselves.
3. Rants belong in the Praise, Vents and Warnings section.

we had similar, came out of the house one afternoon, had been in all day & the neighbour had allowed their contractor to put scaffold all down our side alley, effectivly blocking our usage. A scaffold pole was also butting right up to the joist above my back door, had the scaffold slipped it would have put a hole in my wall or worse.
I informed them instantly that they had 24hrs to remove it before I sent them a bill of for usage of my pathway.
The builder tried to appease by offering to move it closer to the fence but I refused as it meant husband still was unable to get his bike ( rode to work daily) down the path & affected my ability to access back garden as back door was also exited to my side alley.
The neoghbour then proceeded to shout abuse at me for ruining their life whilst I just kept repeating that they had not asked permission & had to move it ASAP.
The builder was very apologetic, he had been told that the neighbour told him they had received my permission. As pointed out to him, I had ben in all day (I worked from home) & as no one had knocked it was BS.
The posts were still there 24hrs after I asked for them to be removed so I had my solicitor write up a quick letter stating that my own builder would be round the next day to remove them at their expense & that they would be liable for the costs of my inconvience (£300 a day for each day thus far).
The scaffold was removed promptly at 7.30am the next morning, presided over by myself. The neighbour hid in her house.
The point is, you have rights over the proprty. I was not the owner of that house but I had legal rights over the property as the legal tenant. The neighbour thought that as I wasn't the owner she could do as she wanted, she was wrong & it cost her in time wasted & extra costs of builders time etc.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
