Easter city break

Any ideas where I can take the good lady and myself for a short city break? I am tearing my hair out here

We want to go to a southern or south eastern european city for a few days between the 11/4 and 18/4. We can fly from Manchester, East Midlands, Doncaster, Humberside, Leeds/Bradford and Luton. Any hotel will do

The sites we have managed to negotiate are quoting around £500-£600 which seems very steep for a few days, even if it is Easter. I have checked Ryanair, jet 2, Easyjet, Thomson and Expedia

Its doing my head in

  • Have a play with SkyScanner for flights, then book your own hotel.

    Some examples:
Flybe 14/4, ret 17/4 MAN to Milan Malpensa, 2 flights 200 quid.
Ryanair same dates EMA to Girona, 2 flights 60 quid (plus baggage etc)

I have no idea about hotels, but doubt 3 days for two would be 300 quid unless you go 5*.

Probably best to go midweek. Also maybe think about non-Protestant/Catholic countries - in Greece the date of Easter is different, while Turkey is Muslim. That means Easter isn't such a big thing for the locals. Maybe the same applies to other countries in the Balkans or North Africa too.
  • If you are quick you can get cheap flights to Ibiza at least for £3.75 each way from east midlands, over easter as well, then use something like hotelconnect.com or hotelcomparison.com for cheapest available hotel rooms. Worth looking anyway.
  • Theres a Deal on Just now for a 4 night stay in a 4* Hotel in Salou for £45 all in for 2 people. Its half board. I'll go find the link. xx
