NICS aptitude test - what to wear?

  • I expect there are - I would think about 98% of its employees, mostly because their terms and conditions of state employment are like those of a Butlins day visitor.

I've done my time in the NICS and will happily confirm that entire days were spent by employees of all grades on facebook, mobiles, booking holidays etc etc. I know of others scamming mileage at 45p a mile while driving on red diesel from Tyrone every day. I know of line managers who claimed week long snow days, then joked about it with their staff officers and dps, whilst collecting their cash off HR connect. I know other employees who have gotten off with serious and violent misconduct at work and at work related events and went onto promotion let alone demotion or dismissal.

I also know of a litany of cases where disciplinaries were pushed and progressed against non conformers by personnel and internal management, where claims were falsified by staff and encouraged by management to achieve certain outcomes, where quite massive amounts have been paid out in hushed up discrimination claims where the civil service could no longer hide the behaviour of sections of its staff.

The nics is rotted to the core, politicised by republicans, staff by incompetent and lazy staff and egregiously fradulent in its use of public money. Oh btw it also has a long history of intimidating anyone who has had the nuts to point out the misdirection of public money and services.

If you think I'm just bitter ask yourselves why your rate bills only go one way and, for emptying a few bins and making sure street lights are working, you're getting royally ripped off in your annual tax bill.

There should be plenty of civil servants on here to of course defend the service, having all taken snow days at 11 30 today, assuming they even went into work.

So, anybody got any advice for the actual test itself. Rather than discussing the professionalism of the current staff...

i know there are sites which do these test samples for you to get a feel for the real thing but I can't actually think of any of them! For the verbal reasoning it is usually spelling and grammar so just brush up on vocab and for numeracy skills it will obviously be maths based so just test yourself on quick sums. I know BBC has a webiste called Bitesize or something which is good for GCSE revision so I would assume there would be maths questions on that? Google verbal/numerical reasoning aptitude tests and hopefully you will get on to something where you can get practical help. Unfortunately because of the high numbers applying for jobs these days the employer has to whittle the numbers down by arranging these tests. So those with experience of the job and the right qualities/skills etc often get overlooked because of these tests which don't necessarily match the right person to the job. Good luck if they do advertise, hope you do well!
