Tesco prices more than local shops

  • Yes I agree that Tesco's prices are far dearer than anywhere else. I only go there now if I can't get get an alternative and that's probably every couple of weeks. I guess that their larger purchasing power has come unstuck with the falling pound. I also read that the price of sugar has risen mainly due to the Indian Govt reducing their import taxes and thereby demand has increased affecting world supplies. It used to be about 79p, then 83p now 96p. Tesco's cheapest granulated I saw was in the blue refillable card/jars at 89p, (£1.19 kg) but Aldi's was 84p tonight. Phew! Isn't shopping taking longer nowadays.....time for a cuppa.

  • Yes, we have noticed this a lot.

I think because we are all looking at prices so much now we are noticing all the little price hikes going on.

Tesco have enticed people in and now they are there, they are hiking prices bit by bit. Sooooo wrong!

But also a case of caveat emptor. You don't need to engage with uswitch to shop at a different supermarket!

  • i have not shopped in tesco for 3 yrs they screw suppliers and farmers and are driven by a idea of creating a one stop shop. shop else where it can be doneand it is cheaper in the long run

ive signifcantly reducxed my tesco shopping as it was a major waste of money. id buy stuff and wither waste the food or waste money in the snese i was paying more for a lesser product.

the quality of their own food is shoddy!!!! I now shop @ m&s as my main as its cheaper in the long run, i spend less money as im more careful and some food items are actually cheaper than tesco (free range eggs are 5p cheaper). oh and not to mention the quality is way higher. all branded stuff is sains or tesco for deals.
