he may not have been forced into administration/liquidation at all, just taken a view that the business is unlikely to make profits over the next few years so it should be shut down. just because a company is wound up doesn't mean it has gone bust, even if he did inject some of his own money to try to turn it around.

Like hundreds of others that decide to call it a day for whatever reason on a daily basis, just because it is Phil it makes the papers. Like other so called celebs on the front pages, if it was J Bloggs it isn't worth printing.
I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
  • It was always a stupid programme. "Mr and Mrs Git are selling their family home which they bought for £30k 8 years ago which is now worth £4.6bn. They want to buy a bigger house in the country and a flat in the city where Mr Git can work himself to death and never see his family."

The idea of houses being a status symbol where smart punters can trade their way up from small terrace to big mansion is exactly where the housing market went wrong. most of us had no chance of doing that but were told is was our right. And if that meant taking out 120% mortgages on over-prices houses way outside what we can actually afford then so what.
  • I can see Phil at the job centre, trying to negotiate a better deal on his JSA

He won't ever be near a dole queue.

It's WHO you know that gets you good jobs ... and he knows a lot of wedged people that'd give him something to do.

Look how often the wealthy go bankrupt one day, while keeping their mansion and landing even more well-paid deals by the end of the week.

Who do you know? That's what it's about.

  • Am I missing something? Is Phil Spender a member of the landed gentry or indeed (cap dully doffed) royalty?

If not, then where has all this 'his sort' and 'never have to worry about work' come from?

Phil is a celebrity and should be thought of as such. Either you find his show hilarious and amusing and watch it or you don't and you don't watch it. As for his business well its just going the way of a lot of others, estate agents included. People seem to think of Phil as some kind of a scoundrel but he is in the entertainment business and I for one find him quite funny.

If people are in a mess over property because of a tv programme then they would have got into a mess anyway.
The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best

Sorry should have made it clear, I mean "real work". Not poncing around houses etc etc, that's not work is it ?? He is related to a profession that is struggling, I don't think he will be worrying about J S A just yet
