  • My mum told me you can get a smear test done at your family planning clinic, not sure if that's true though

Smears are now tested from 25 in a lot of areas (mainly becuase of high rate of false abnormal-positives before then). My first smear was at 18 and it came back abnormal - for the next three years I had smears every 3-6 months, then annually until I was 25. I kinda hope that I've had my quota of smears and shouldn't need any more but it'll not stop me going. At least if they catch something early they've got a chance to do something about it.

Beanie - I'm glad it's not just me and the stupid sat-nav that got lost then in Alloa. Saying that, I'll know next year! We're even planning on getting right up to John-O'groats, then driving round the west coast. Wayne really wants to try haggis so I guess I'll have to find a butcher for him to buy and try it! Guess I'll be eating out that night ;)

I have my smears done at the FP clinic.
When I had one done last year, I was lying there waiting for the lovely lady doctor to do it and suddenly there was this clatter and a squeak. She had fallen backwards of the stool and was in a heap on the floor.

She was ok, although I did feel slightly apprehensive after that.

Spud, if you can cope with having a tooth out, I'm sure you will be fine with a smear. :kisses3:

anyway, enough inane ramblings from me, just shoving in time til someone else comes along... Squizz/snags/bun - how are your runnings going???
Hiya - it sounds like you're ready to do more hun, if you felt like you could have kept going. :T

I'm still plodding along at around 5.5km (3.5 miles-ish?) but going to try to do 6.5 this week I think, to get me back up to that 4 mile barrier. I didn't run last week due to ill kids and dodgy neck, but I'm hoping to get at least 2 visits to the treadmill in this week, one tomorrow and one Friday (and might squeeze one in on Sunday if I'm not too tired). I only want one of those to be a 4 miler though, the rest will be shorter, and maybe broken up with other cardio stuff at the gym.

Please pretty please will you keep us up to date on what sort of distances you are running, as we are starting from similar points and aiming for the 10k race? I haven't got a training plan and I'm worried I'll fall behind and wont be ready. :o I couldn't care less about times, I just want to be able to run the whole distance.

I'm still so unsure about Manchester cos I'll be 33 weeks by then. I think I'll come for the day but get the train back to Leeds about 6-7pm. Nothing worse than being sober whilst everyone else is getting wasted!

    ps - I waddled today; it wasn't a walk it was a definite waddle:eek:
