Cheeky AOL using out of date CC

Noticed on my credit card statement that AOL have taken a years subscription. £164.89p.. i do not have an AOL account, although i once used my card to pay for an ex.G.F yearly fee. the account was closed in may and the next fee was not taken rightly so..
suddenly this week the fee has been taken, on speaking to AOL they say the account was re-activated in dec 05. i asked why did they take money off an out of date credit card (the one on their file had an old expiry date) they said they are allowed to look to see if you have a newer card (somehow).
the ex has activated the account, but would not have my newer credit card details. so i can't see why they let her re-activate without suppling new details.
aol reckon i can't have my money back because the main screen name and password were used and it must have been someone in my family or my girlfriend( even though i keep telling them it is an ex and i have no more contact).

this can't be right???

mastercard are sending me a form to fill in.

  • Unfortunately it can be a nightmare trying to stop a Continous Payment Authority (CPA) on a credit card - once you've given authority for a 3rd party to take money off of it they're the only ones who can stop it unlike a Direct Debit that you can cancel anytime.

Take a look at this thread for more information there may be some help for you in there:
