Help with getting a cheap contract

Hi everyone. Sorry if this is a silly question that's been asked before but I'm new to the forum and haven't come across the answer while reading over the threads. My current orange contract is up and I'm going to cancel it instead of upgrading as I want to try one of the cashback contracts to save myself some money (been paying £50 for the last year.) The problem is I've found that the best deals are for around the 200 minute mark and I currently have 400 mins. I also need a few hundred texts -I currently have 1000 but don't need nearly that much. I worked out that if I got two contracts with 02 at 200 or 250 mins with 100 texts on each it would be a lot cheaper than taking out the higher contract but am not sure if this is allowed. Can anyone tell me if one person is allowed to have more than one contract in their own name with the same provider? As I currently have a V3 from this year's contract and a good Samsung flip from the year before's I'm not bothered about the phone itself as I thought I could just sell both online and therefore cut my costs massively. I've worked out that if I did that with say a SEW800i and a V3 Pink I would be paying a nominal amount for my contracts after cashback. Again I just wanted to check if this is allowed? I'm sure it is as I've been swapping my current sim from one phone to the other lately. If anyone could help me with the rules It'd be much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

try to ask for your pac code and see what they offer, if you spend £50/month already they should offer you a good deal, tis is the best way if you want a good phone and dopnt want to have to bother with cashback.
check out in the forum for bargaining with orange for an upgrade

There are tonnes of good ones. I have just got one from Mobile Rainbow on 3 (Sony Ericsson K608i), 11 Months Free on 12 Month Contract. It is the Video, Talk and Text 1100 deal. Which gives: 600 free video minutes, 400 Free Texts, 50 Free Video/Picture Messages, 50 Free Video Minutes and £5.00 Free Content Download.

I recently posted the details of this company in a thread and decided to take the contract with them as I have a plan of going through the courts if they don't pay up/go bust.

Although the deal has been rescinded since (8 months free instead of 11) if you phone them up you may still get it. Also, they confirmed the deal via e-mail in such a way that implicated three in the cashback deal.

Also Phonebox direct, have a 12 month free on a 12 month contract deal for the Video Talk Text 700. I believe this includes 400 Minutes, 200 Texts, 25 Video/Picture Texts, 25 Video Minutes and £5.00 of content download inclusive. Some have raised concerns over how long they will be about. However, the company who runs them has been about for quite awhile.

If you are concerned about cashback reliabilty The Link have a clearance deal on: 10 Months Free on a 12 Months contract with the Nokia 6680:

Thanks yacov but I'm not that bothered about getting a new phone. I'd like one but it's just not a priority at the moment, to be honest cutting my bill to the minimum is what concerns me the most as I'm unable to work much right now. I know Orange will probably offer me a decent deal if I threaten to leave but it won't be as good as paying virtually nothing for admittedly a bit more hassle with the cashback. I just need to know if this is allowed as I'm not too up on the rules of these things!! I've always just got a contract from a provider and paid it but from researching on this forum and the net in general it seems the best deals are with cashback. To be honest I would prefer to stay with orange but it's all about the costs unfortunately and I never had many problems with O2 when I had a contract with them.

One person can have more than one contract with the same company as long as the credit checks clear fine (which they usually do). I remember one salesperson who ENCOURAGED a relative to order another phone for her children, and even offered a SAME day cash bonus.

If you want to keep your phone remember to ask the store where you want to get your new phone from for a HUGE cashback deal (remember they would usually be given you a phone that costs them about £100 for free, so ask for £75, extra cashback than you would get if you needed a new phone).

Thanks a lot Freefall - so it doesn't matter if they're both with the same provider just so long as the credit check goes through. I see. I'm not that keen on two credit checks but for the savings I would get if I could sell the two phones I think it's worth it!! Those deals you posted do sound very good - the only problem is that they're on the 3 network which I know doesn't have a good reputation and have had friends who were on it and told me never to get it. What's your perception of them? I've just basically avoided looking at their deals due to this. Also as far as the cashback goes, I'm not too concerned about it as I am reasonably organised and know I would be able to remember to send bills and vouchers in on time etc it's just the reliability of the companies that worries me therefore I've only looking at deals on e2save, OSPS, Mobileshop, Cpw and Link so far. I will check out the ones you've mentioned though and thanks again for your help.

Was just wondering if anyone knows-if you did apply for say 2 or 3 different contracts and were credit checked would these credit checks affect your credit rating very badly? I'm assuming that they wouldn't be as adverse as say three credit card credit checks but I guess its worth considering before you go ahead with this sort of scheme.
