I know not everyone likes to use a bar of soap but it does make the loo smell nice.

Rather than using these nasty toilet cleaners, why not use a green alternative, Ecover or Bio-D for example don't have all the rubbish in, but clean just as well or better- why don't you try bulk buying which saves you money- try www.ecotopia.co.uk, i now have lots of eco-cleaning products in my cuboard and i ahev my onwn little refill staion- brilliant.

I read information on here a coupe of weeks ago about bulk buying, cna't find it again now, but thanks!

    Happy shopping:rotfl:

May as well stick to using lemon, vinegar, bicarb etc - cheaper and definately eco friendly!
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.

They sound great, where can you get essential oils from? I was looking some time ago and didn't know where to look, ended up on Yankee Candle shop where they have refresher oils for pot pourri but didn't think they would be strong enough. Oh oh oh just had a thought, do they sell them in Body Shop?????

I get mine from http://www.essentialoilsdirect.co.uk/ - great range, good pices and fast delivery. (And no, I have nothing whatsoever to do with the company, apart from being an occasioanl customer!)

Great site. Nice to see they do English-grown oils as well... cuts down on the carbon footprint!
  • Huge agreement from here to all kitchkitty recommends, really sensible (and cheap!) advice there. The spray air fresheners (and worse, those automatic pump things) just chuck up huge amounts of chemicals (propellants, perfumes etc, all of them toxic and some hormone disrupting) into the air that you will be breathing next time you go in the bathroom. I love that suggestion about essential oil on a tissue inside the roll too, I'm going to try that one :)
  • I put a drop of Zaflora on to toilet tissue and wipe the underside of the loo seat with it. And it usually keeps the loo smelling fresh and fragrant.
  • I just stick a lump of charcoal up Mr Squirrelchop's arris....neutralises the nasty smells on the way out then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry couldn't resist. Open window or a squirt of bleach if particulary unsavoury!

    Open window ....

I think we've all been missing the obvious answer! Thanks squirrelchops!
  • I cannot stand the duck discs after having a particularly bad hangover at a friends house and having to contend with one of these right in your face!
Sorry for lowering the tone of the toilet conversation!

You have to laugh at the latest Anthea Turner advert extolling the virtues of cleaners made up of bicarb, lemon, vinegar etc. Ahem....why would anyone pay a fortune when you can make them yourself?
