  • Thanks for info Decadent Fool.
13th May?...that's a couple of months away yet.
I want to hold these Lloyds shares at the moment to get the freebies, and I'll be buying more at 38.43p.
Yes, Barclays has had an amazing week.
It holds up better than Lloyds.Once it rises, it tends to not lose too much at the moment.
I don't see Lloyds doing a lot tomorrow.
Funny you should mention HSBC tonight. Was only talking about them earlier.
A short would probably be a good idea.
Looking to buy some M&S shares but waiting for a price drop to below 250.

Hope some people bought the Lloyds shares cheap and have made a tidy profit :D
If it's not a bargain, it's not worth buying :D

The 1 for 40 issue is a scrip dividend and nothing at all to do with the OPEN OFFER (note - not a RI). I think they said the record date for holding shares that are due this dividend is the 9th May but it may be slightly different.

Was tempted to sell today, actually had the finger on the trigger at 59p, password entered and everything but held off as the price rose slightly over the time when I was processing so I hesitated, went to my meeting and it was 54p.

Your average is much better than mine which is about 92p. Would have been good to sell at 59p and buy back at 54p.

Anyway I reckon the SP may fall tomorrow, the dow didn't responde particularly well to it, check LYG on the NYSE so may sell in early trade. If I sell enough shares that I will get in the open offer then I can either buy back and then resell or just leave it till the open offer is offered and then buy them back at 38.43p. We'll see, I'll probably still be holding tomorrow

    Thanks for info.
Well, I was lucky when I bought my shares.
Was going to buy at 56p, but couldn't buy due to other commitments.
A week later they'd dropped, and then they dropped again.

Know what you mean about "finger on the trigger"!
Happened to me a couple of times.
I refresh the quote while I've got a firm price, to see if I can squeeze a bit more.;)
Barclays are the ones to be on at the moment. It's just a question of catching them at the right time.
They can be bought and sold within a day to make a nice profit at the moment.
    Just my opinion.

I hope Decadent Fool went with his instincts - he seemed to know what he was doing despite being being ridiculed here.
What instincts were those then? The ones to fantasise about share deals that never took place. :rotfl:

Do you actually ever post anything positive on here. Not sure why you're on at dec fool as he said he'd popped you on ignore list? You and fatpig must have way too much time on your hands......

Was nice seeing Lloyds touching 65p today, funny that you and your alter ego have maintained that bank shares should be given a very wide berth. Buy low and ride the storm seems to be the way at present. Would expect a fall back on friday, then see how next week goes. Personally will buy into Lloyds scheme, once it's all sorted if share price is a good un....

Yeah I've got Barclays too. One of only 2 shares in my portfolio that are in the black at the moment!! Though its nice to see my Aviva shares start to rise and hopefully wipe out the losses I made due to the massive declines in the SP that we saw earlier in the year.

I wish I has shorted on them; they gapped down about 20 percent! !!!!!!! :D
Doing my best as a contrarian investor...property, banking...let's see how it goes ;)

Not sure. We'll wait and see as I didn't expect it to get this high to be honest what with the OO not completed yet. Anyhow, if it goes above 77p then I will be guaranteed (obviously if I sell above this) of doubling the part of my shareholding that I will be selling to buy back in.

Sell at above 77p, buy at 38.43p = double the amount of shares. Come on!! Keep going LBG
