Royal Mail fined

I have worked for a short while for Royal Mail in one of my previous incarnations. They've got lots and lots of problems. If there is a lot of mail and they don't have enough staff, they have to get agency staff or casuals in, and some of them...
I am normally the first to have a go at a body when they get things wrong. Here I will side with the Royal Mail, cos lots of the problems are not of their making, and the regular posties are terrific people. The 11.5 million fine is unwarranted and far too much...as we will all be finding out when we pay it when they put the price of the postage up. And it's going to do wonders for morale at the sorting office.
Two words come to mind: tax and stealth.Small change can often be found under seat cushions.

I'm confused. Why are people so eagre for RM to be fined? Who ultimately will pay for those fines? Us, the paying customer!
Whilst I moan from time to time, I think the RM do a pretty good job on the whole, and like leachy says, most of the probs stem from bad managerial/goverment decisions.0
