To the poster above, that's interesting info, thanks.

Whilst the thread is bumped up, I'll just respond to one of the previous posts....

I CAN'T BE DOING WITH THE TEXT SPEAK!!!!!!!

    ;)

So why don't you use your ignore function kindly provided by the MSE abuse team? You'll find it when you look at another users profile.

You think MSE should ban text speak. I think MSE should ban people who complain in public about something as trivial as a textspeaker.

There is no need for Text Speak in Forums .The point of it is to save space on Text Messages .Elsewhere it is just plain ignorant and several Forums I belong to do ban it .
Anyway re the Original Post .

The trick costs the struggling Royal Mail hundreds of thousands of pounds a year - and is soaring as credit crunch-hit customers try to get away without paying."

And how exactly do RM know this? .Same argument as the millions of pounds that companies claim they don't get because folk buy Counterfeit Goods assuming that folk would buy the product if the fake wasn't available.
Well as far as I'm concerned I won't be throwing an unfranked stamp in the bin .It'll be getting a label put on .Folk on Freecycle already re-use jiffy bags and need to stick labels on so that's nothing unusual.

then when you go to tesco you can reuse the carrier bags and just shoplift your shopping
    same logic
you are already using the 'product',just not paying for it so your rational doesnt stand

I've received a couple of those new stamps unfranked, steamed them off and glued them onto letters, and the things I've sent with them have definitely got there!
