Would you go on holiday with a 8-10 week old baby?

I have found a good deal on a holiday to Lazarote in Sept that I think is ending soon. We hadn't been planning on going abroad this year as we're having a baby & had wanted to move. However it looks likely we won't move now so ma tempted to book this but oh is a little wary of going away with a tiny baby (approx 8-10 weeks old at time of travel), I think it would be ok but am not sure. Any thoughts/experiences would be appreciated :D

Should probably have said we have an almost 3 year old so we're not compeltely new to the baby thing & are aware that new babies can be a tremendous shock to the system!!!!

I have a 8 month old and we took her to Cornwall for a week when she was 4 months old but we had a cottage so it was very easy to deal with everything and obivously driving instead of flying meant we could stop when we wanted to to feed/change etc..
I am not sure if you would enjoy your holiday abroad with your baby at that age...
Is it in a hotel? Is it your first baby?

Ah, so you have done it before.
My personal opinion is no, I wouldn't do it. Remember that the pound will be worth about half a potato to the euro...
    Maybe consider the UK?

I took my little girl to spain when she was approx 9 weeks old, it was fairly easy as at that age they sleep all the time, obviously depending on whether you are breast or bottle feeding will depend on the amount of equipment you need to take with you, i was bottle feeding and had to take the milton sterilizing tablets so that i could get all the bottles done at once. Just bear in mind that if you have a toddler to look after as well then you may be exhausted as the baby will still be waking up for night feeds and your toddler will need constant attention when on the beach or round the pool.

I think you would be better off waiting until you have had the baby and see how you feel as you will need to get the babies passport etc sorted before you go.

But thats just my two pence worth xx

Thanks for your thoughts.... Only problem with a uk holiday is that we live in NI so it can be as dear to get to the mainland as the continent & with the exchange rate etc there is no way we're going to the republic this year! Am still a bit torn as I lvoed Lanzarote when we went before but don't want to shell out severla hundred quid to be miserable lol!

  • Your main concern should be with your babies health, and specifically with the ear canal - because of the pressurization changes in the aircraft. The baby should be at least two months old, so you would be borderline.

Really? I've always been told babies can fly pretty much from birth although most airlines won't take them before they are 2 weeks. Planning on flying to london in August for weddings & was told that would be fine.

If you are replying to my point then yes. The pressuriztion changes can be quite bad for adults, especially if you have a cold. It can be very dangerous to a baby. You should check with your doctor before travelling.
