When I moved into 2nd year uni house we had a TVL visitor. We had been moved in for 3 days and had no internet or phone line so we couldn't sort it out. Sorted it out then there, I bet he was happy he got his commission lol.

I actually don't mind the license fee. For about 40p a day the BBC provides in depth news (the website is my first call for news; I watch at 10pm and Newsnight) as well as great documentaries and entertainment. Better than any newspaper and great value.

    BBC3, however, is pap.

what great documentaries, and what great entertainment

all the bbc spurns out is dire crap

they never put on any decent films at all just all dire CRAP

if you talk about decent documentaries then look to channel 4 who also show decent films as well which are more newer

btw the employer is crapita !!!!!!!! they have mispelled it

what they dont tell you is that you have to be agressive to people and therefore people will be agressive with you in return for you having to be dirtyhanded

They weren't aggressive with me, they seemed very nice.

Anyway here's a list of a couple of great programmes made or bought by the BBC:

    BBC News
    Doctor Who
    Panorama
    Watchdog
    Top Gear
    Waterloo Road
    Life on Mars
Heroes - US programme, but I'm so glad BBC bought it.

There is just a selection of great programmes. Besides they don't have adverts.

Judging by your name, they don't generally show films that you would like.

    I think it's worth it.

They do. I like those Hard Sell ones last year. I also like Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, that's amazing.

Channel 4 have to provide good output because of the BBC.

if you don't believe that the quality of the BBC output provides the baseline for the competing channels in the uk then try watching TV in a deregulated country like the US.

Channel after channel of utter pap, interspersed with adverts of horrific frequency and length. Any channel that does have a single program of any merit - say House - will fill their entire schedule with that program repeated ad infinitum.

While the idea of a fee may be disagreeable it improves the level of quality that the other channels are forced to provide.

The original link does not seem to show the job anymore but thanks to Chutzpah I read this

As well as updating our extensive database, visiting officers will also enforce prosecution proceedings by taking statements under caution.

    Taking statements under caution?
Since as I understand it officers have no right of entry or indeed access to your property then this sounds a bit unlikely.

I like the BBC but do not like the way their bully boys enforce the Licence

    Hustle
Flight of the conchords - US programme but BBC bought rights to it.
    Family Guy
    American Dad
Two pints of lager & a packet of crisps

Just had to add a few I could think of off the top of my head.

The list goes on and on and on and on. And as for documentaries what about them Darwin docs last month on BBC4. They were really really good.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
