How will they show tv programmes though if they don't have staff?

Well the BBC have cut back on spending. They no longer provide biscuits at meetings anymore!

Anyway £12/hour? That's a reasonable wage. I can't actually see the advert, but for working for the BBC that's ok. Producers/Directors get a hell of a lot more it would make your eyes water!

I may not work for the BBC, but I'm trying!
  • that vacancy is £12000 per year basic

and surely people should have a tv license anyway? its like standing in a car park and saying
''hello sir have you thought about throwing your hard earned money at someone claiming to sort out what round here are glorified horse tracks? you get a little peice of paper for £150 a year which you can display with pride in your car window''
things arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back then ;)
BH is my best mate too, its ok :)

I trust BH even if he's from Manchester.. ;)

Is it just me or does that bit not make any sense?

I personally think £140 is worth it, they do make great TV and have the best news channel that I've ever come across.
  • The full job description from Capita's site:
    Visiting Officer

As a visiting or sales officer for TV Licensing, your responsibilities will include making door to door calls to business and residential properties to ensure they are properly licensed.
As well as updating our extensive database, visiting officers will also enforce prosecution proceedings by taking statements under caution.
A self motivated individual you will be driven by your desire to exceed set goals and targets and will have a flexible attitude to attendance patterns and working hours.
The majority of our officers work alone, and you will have the perseverance to continue - whatever the weather! Your excellent communication skills will ensure you remain calm and professional during the many varied situations you will come across.
Your perseverance and flexibility will be rewarded with a basic salary plus a bonus scheme that has no upper limit.
You must hold a full UK driving licence, with the use of a suitable vehicle.

For further information, please telephone 01254 700427.
So it's not exactly 'sales', it's visiting properties and checking if they have a license and if not 'selling' the idea of getting one. I expect the commission comes from new licences administered (i.e. more money into the system and less of a burden on the rest of them) or even successful prosecution for evasion. So more 'enforcement' officers, but it's entirely likely that being an outsourcing consultancy Capita have decided that's too forceful a term and made up a 'better' job title.
