Family Fund

My little girl is disabled yet we cannot apply as we are just over the allowed income (husband has a forces pension - 22 years serving!) She has serious disabilities. We both work and pay our taxes and I work term time so I am always there for her during the school holidays. I could give up work and then we could apply - are we doing it all wrong?!0

Hi folks
Wonder if anyone can help.
This will be the first application for Family Fund, had the forms for a good while but have been dealing with urgent matters, so this has been pushed aside. I have a son age 14 with autism/special and complexed needs.
However, I am aware there is a certain amount of income before becoming eligible for this fund, currently my hubby not working due to job losses, fingers crossed he will return to new employment soon, and of course as I said I care full time for my son.
Does anyone know if FF help in regards of bedroom furniture?
He has such a small bedroom and the cupboards are falling apart, his bed his fine and not that old, its just the cupboards/wardrobes really.
As its a box room, wonder if they help with the sort of built in bedroom furniture, with sliding doors, a lot safer as well.
I have heard the first application is where they offer more, but as this is priority and my son will benefit more here for more room also.
Cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
di3004 I would say it may do, seeing as its for his benefit, no harm in asking
Thank you for your quick response, I shall apply that then to the form as the first item as this one we feel is priority.;)
I feel for him really, its not a huge house anyway, but he needs space and a nice bedroom, he deserves this so much, he has had a bad time of it lately which is why he is currently de-registered from school.;)
I will let you know how it goes, cheers so much.:AThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
did you also know that when you register online with the family fund you get a sent a email with a code on it to log in to the likes of Argos and comet and get the same catalogue but cheaper prices. Also other offers. look at website and apply.0

Very good this, he already has a laptop/notebook but a bigger laptop would be better again I believe, I could put that down as the next option, thanks so much.
There have not been a holiday for a few years due to problems, but its definately something to think about for our son's sake, thanks so much.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
i think the family fund has its place it helps so many vulnerable families,we havent applied yet, well i did apply about 2 years ago and they lost our form so nothing materialised from it, but were in a position now where we could really do with a bit of extra help. i find it quite offensive to suggest parents use their disabled child as a meal ticket these things are in place to ease pressure and financial burden on vulnerable families with additional needs.
by the way has anyone heard of the "carers special grant" i read a little bit about it but ive never heard of it before, its funded through councils my council website is a bit naff though so i couldnt see a lot of info on it.0 -

Hi there
Good luck with your application.
Same as us, we had the form for a good while, but things kept cropping up, then we forgot about this.
No not heard of Carer's Special Grant, will be interested to know more on this, will try googling this in later. Cheers.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
