Holiday with tesco vouchers - how much do I need to spend?

Hi
I am hoping to save up tesco points to get deals worth £2000 to put towards a holiday in 1.5 years time.
I have just recently started collecting but with my last statement I was sent a measly £1.50 voucher....
Could someone just say if my calculations are correct:
£2000 in deals = £500 in clubcard vouchers = 50000 points = £50,000 spend??
£50,000 spent in tesco seems an awful lot - did I do my sums right lol.
Thanks

Do you have a tesco credit card?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

No
why is that a better way to get points?
I am about to buy a tv and a few other things in the next couple of months totaling over £1000 what would be the best way to get the maximum points?
Thanks0 -
Just took out a credit card they gave me a £4k limit should help a bit.
Did I get the calculations right though? 50000 clubcard points?0 -
50000 cc points requires a £50000 spend which means you would end up with £500 of cc points, which is converted to deals equates to £2000 so yup you're calculations are rightLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

ok so with the cc, I could spend £4000 (I run a businness and could use it instead of another card that gives me nothing at present) per month that would be 1000 points per month = 18000 points.
So 32000 to get - any ideas, I have seen that others can do it? any clues.

Don't forget with Virgin Holidays you would have to pay taxes, fees and charges for the flights.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Make sure you set up DD to pay Credit Card in full each month or the interest will cancel out any benefit of the Clubcard points.
Double points on fuel at the moment so make the most of that. Look out for any other bonus points on offer. Tesco finance always have some for savings, insurance etc.
Also look for any bonus points for online purchases or instore. These are harder to find these days but not completely dead in the water.
You should visit paid to shop website loads of advice on gaining points there.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -

And virgin holidays tend to be more expensive than expedia etc, some cc vouchers I have are close to expiring so thought I would put them into virginholiday vouchers, however prior to doing it I priced up a holiday and it was considerabely more expensive than the same holiday booked through expedia.
Just a thought.

Until a few months ago there were loads of promotions to get extra points - eg. 1000 points on an online shop, 750 points for £50 of wine from wineclub - but these seem to be few and far between now.
Look out for offers on car insurance - for example when I went to renew with Tesco I'd seen a better deal elsewhere so they offered my 3000 points to stay with them (ended up as 4,000 points as they forgot to put them on, so offered me extra as compensation!)
If you're with EON for gas & electricity you can get clubcard points. Also there are often free points offers with Tesco DVD rental (part of Lovefilm)
It's really just a matter of keeping your eyes open and you may be able to get towards your target.
I think petrol is giving away double points at the minute also0 -
We collected 45,000 Clubcard Points last year, which got us 108,000 BA Miles.
BA had a BA Miles sale on last November, which meant that my BA Miles were worth DOUBLE.
100,000 BA Miles (41667 Clubcard Points) and £890 in taxes/surcharges bought me two flexible (cancelleabe/refundable/changeable) Club Class return flights from Newcastle to Vancouver via Heathrow, 'worth' upto £13000 if I had paid for flights of the same flexibility.
£890 would have bought us one and a bit non-flexible Economy tickets.
We certainly didn't spend £41,667 at tesco last year. We probably did spend about £15000 however, £10000 of which was probably petrol and diesel, paid for by our employers.
The rest was normal shopping, extra points for Tesco Credit Card, bonus points where avaialable, till spits, ink cartridge and phone recycling, Tesco Direct and wine purchases.
Only £5000 of our own money spent, so a great deal as far as we are concerned.
Collecting Tesco points is definitely getting harder - this quarter we collected about 8500 Clubcard points maximum.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0
