This might be a really daft question!
I notice a few of you write the word 'Mom' is that an Americanism or is it a local term from where you live?
Please satisfy my curiosity!0 -

Over on UKS a few of us are in a crafting group to stop filling this thread with craft chatter. Scatty has just finished my class and it is totally beautiful, she HAND CUT the black detailing on the paper and mounted it onto pink paper. I just had to show you HER page:
Hope no-one minds x
Wow scattymam, your page is absolutely beautiful, well done you and ta to Mel for posting on here so we could have a look:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -

I know it's not reindeer day yet but wanted to let you know that I've won this little Quickutz chap on ebay today...
2nd hand, including p&p he is a fiver. Hope to use him for Xmas cards and tags and maybe to deocrate items if I do a couple of Xmas craft fairs. I think he's adorable:wave: If you want the rainbow, you've got to put up with the rain :wave:0 -
Ohhhh Rainmac he is adorable!! You could use his head minus antlers for a cute lickle mouse!! YAYY!!! You will be overtaking me for stash soon you little minx!!
Mhag It is a West Midlands thing. Mom is the American version of the word so people assume that is the reason why but I have always ALWAYS called my mother mommy or mom and I won't change it just because i'm older now and people say 'Why aren't you speaking English'. HMPH. yam dae know but ya do now! Gone a tad dudley now.
Jelly Baby I loved your goose story lol it is brilliant!! I didn't know you lived in Birmingham.. you could have come to the NEC!!:xmastree:Self Certified Christmas Addict:xmastree:0 -
He is cute Rainmac!!
Makes me want to get a squeezy now!!!0 -
I call my Mum "Mom", but (as you can see) I write Mum. I think its a regional dialect thing, My Mum was taught at a well to do convent school so uses Mum, but having grown up in the midlands I say Mom.
Just googles it & found this.
He is sooooooo sweet rainmac, I want one, lol, & what a bargain!
Kai was going duck crazy today, he kept pointing at them whenever they were on tv & saying quack, so I've made him some duck biscuits for a snack tomorrow. When we go to feed them I ensure theres a rail between us, geese, as Jelly found out, can be very demanding. Around us they flock to anyone walking past with a plastic bag & pushchair.
Awww Shelley ((((big hugs)))), I'm sure he just wants to be able to say goodbye properly, & give her all his attention before she goes.
Gorgeous page Scattymam, your hard work has definately paid off.You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
Shelley3447 I am so sorry to hear about your dog. It reminded me of the time we lost ours to E Coli - which was at least quick, but too quick for my parents (whose dog she really was) to get back from their holiday abroad to see her. I don't think I have ever felt so guilty.
Hugs (if that helps from a total stranger)0 -
i am so pleased that i know of the mysteries of the west midlands Mom! my friend calls her Mum 'Mom' which I have always found very odd (known her since I was 2) and always assumed she was trying to be cool...now I know differently... her grandparents and family are Brummie-based so thats why! She is SO not cool now
We hear 'Ma' here all the time, which I must admit if I'm in an impish mood I do call my Mum "me Ma" very common!!

hi all! had a busy day with work today. Mr jamtart6 is STILL nursing a hangover and throwing me pitiful glances! Needless to say, no work is being done on the house today!!:rotfl:
I REALLY need to shake my @ss on this journal jar for M'day. Cannot find any of the links I previously found for the questions to go in the jar - can anyone help?:T
I am doing poorly on the m.day front. Got a chanel thing which was £30 but bought with points so that doesn't really count, and Mamma mia DVD which was £7.99 and a journal jar. Mum is having such a tough time at the moment, I am really feeling that this doesn't touch the sides with trying to cheer her up, but I am at a loss for what to do. Any suggestions? Could go down the traditional flowers route but just seems SO unoriginal
What about a voucher for a manicure a facial, a pedicure, dont know if you have a college by you, but those that do health and beauty etc, usually have a salon, and the work is done by students, (obviuosly under supervision by tutors), but you save a fortune. Our local college a facial is about £6.00, and maybe go with her. I think the flowers idea is lovely, but maybe leave them till after mothers day as that way she gets a double surprise. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
