    Me 2 LOL

Go open a savings account (either a monthly saver, ISA, or e-saver which offers those kinds of high interest depending on the bank/building society) then instead of opening another account, which will damage your credit score, due to the number of searches you've done already. :p

Why open so many bank accounts anyway? You have two already with HSBC which should be enough. Don't know why people want more than 1 or 2 banks accounts?

I tried opening another current acount with Halifax.

    I already have with them:

Current account - offering a 3k overdraft at a touch of a button.
    ISA - with money in
    Savings - Little bit in

When i went to apply I got rejected! I didnt want an overdraft, this was to allow me to transfer my weekly spend allowance into this account so I can use my debit card without loosing track of what I spend on it!

Safe to say I was not happy!

I wonder if its due to me changing jobs, one used to pay me monthly where now I get paid weekly??

It took 24 hours for the 'instant' decision was made. I could be on the look out to move accounts to a bank that will let me open an account!

Like I say, HSBC seem good and they gave me an account and I have incorrect linked address with 30 odd defaults! Anyway, just thought i'd share that (bear in mind my credit is blank - these defaults are not mine and I did explain this to HSBC)

Bit of advice, go into branch cos if they cant give you full account they will give you basic account which has visa debit card (not electron) but its 100% authorisation (apparently). See this for photo of full account cards: #249

My understanding is the basic account will have a card similar to the silver one, but will be fully authorised at point of sale similar to electron.

Hope this helps..... Am certain SS will clarify if i've got it wrong ......

  • After some bad experiences with RBS I tried to open a reward account, not really expecting much luck (About a year ago nobody would let me open an account, and my credit rating has got worse if anything) but to my surprise they accepted me straight away.
On the back of that, realising the £5 bonus is good, but the rest of the terms aren't so hot I applied for an A&L Premier direct account, and got approved for that too.
