12 months ago SP put my DD up from £88 to £105 even though I was £38 in credit, however, as I knew prices were rising and my DH was going to be at home all day for 4 extra days I left it as I though it would be about right. Anyway, yesterday I received a letter explaining that my DD will rise from £105 to £128 even though I am now £78 in credit. Not estimated.
Is it worth challenging this or are prices still rising that much? Or should I swap as I've been with them 5 years?
I don't think £78 is a huge credit balance - only £35 for Feb and £35 for March. By April, you should be back at zero. You need to work out how many kwh you've used over the year, cost it and divide by 12 - that's what you should be paying from April.
Definitely look at switching - use annual kwh figures though and compare the good-looking tariffs ti what you're paying now.0 -
Thank you, can you tell me why April?Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
Thank you, can you tell me why April?
I've just picked it up from this board. A lot of people are complaining about their DD increasing and people working for the energy suppliers have said that there has been a change of thinking about letting people build up debit balances. I know people don't like it but I can understand why energy companies would worry about people building up debts in the current climate - weather and economy. The zero balance for April seems to be a common theme - maybe because a lot of companies end their financial year in line with the tax year? More likely because that's whan people start reducing their consumption and can start building a credit balance.0 -
