Oven is on tomorrows list so I would be grateful for some tips on how to remove the oven monster please? I think it escaped from a pasta bake in a past life if that helps?

See if you can scrape something under the edge and lift it.

Failing that squirt it with stardrops or cif or something effective and leave it a while..

Then it should maybe wipe off..

That failing get a knife.. ordinary kitchen implement and scrape it off!! Pasta bake slop usually comes off pretty easy!

Oh, and my dad phoned and he has arranged for us to go to the Submarine Museum on Weds and see all the stuff they have about my Grandfather :Dsoappie - take note ;) Am v excited :j

That's fantastic Frodders - I haven't forgotten your other stuff - it's on my list of things to do - on and WDYTYA is on tonight!

Casleigh - you're doing really, really well! But baby steps remember - don't over do it!

Rosepink - I'm sure my DD can make use of it - she's moving into an unfurnished flat at the beginning of March. If no-one else wants it - I'll refund postage... let me know and I'll PM you my address..

I'm hot and ~ummm~ glowing (I'm not an 'orse and only they sweat!). I have been sawing and wiping and sweeping. I now have two kick plates/boards/plinths whatever - back in their rightful place from the tiling the other weekend. Only another two to go.

I, of course, then had to dust everything (I do the sawing in the kitchen), sweep the kitchen floor and then wash it. There was a method in my madness. I did look at the oven but decided in the end that that could wait until the weekend.

So my list looks (below) ain't bad for a work night!

Oh, and I did the meter readings again. It is curious. We have used only 1 unit less gas 5pm sun-5pm mon than we did 5pm sat/5pm sun and have used 13 more (2/3rds just about) electricity in the same time frame. The electric may be up because of roast dinner last night but  Miss Marple here  reckons someone has also been using expensive electrical equipment like tumble dryers.... How do I know??

Elementary dear Watson. I left the electric socket for the TD switched off but the washing machine socket switched on. Tonight when I went to put washing in the machine, both switches were off. A quick check of the TD filter shows an attempt to clean it out but not well enough.... There were some threads there which weren't there on Saturday.... Hmmmmmm. I shall continue the readings and see what else transpires.

Gawd, I really did miss my calling - I should have been a detective!

    ALL DONE :D:D:D

    Monday
    [strike]wash kitchen surfaces and sink[/strike]
    [strike]clean cooker hob[/strike]
    [strike]wash dishes[/strike]
    [strike]throw away whatever needs it[/strike]

    Well done Casleigh :T :T :T :T

The oven stuff - can you scrape the worst of it off - if not striaght away try soaking it a bit first. If it is that burnt in place it will take a while to get off - slowly and a bit at a time will get you there.

Kitchen surfaces and cooker hob are clean and cleaned properly with bleachy stuff too. Had brief wobble due to trying to put everything back symmetrically (dont even ask) :rotfl:
Having a cup of tea before the dishes, I can do this! (with all of your help)

    Thanks Rose - you've got a PM!

I'm now sneezing. I think I have sawdust up my nose. But it could be related to the extremely peculiar snottiness and raw trachea I've been battling the last couple of days...

  • Hi,

Hope everyone is well & welcome newbies/returners. I've spent most of today visting a friend, but have also done errands, laundry & dishes. My aim for the rest of the evening is to do more errands

Still lots to do on the list. Just hoovered the ground floor, and put lots of things away including clearing away one of two paper hotspots.

Flower - I had a greenhouse (reduced to £165 in BnQ this time last year) and some manure for my birthday last year. I know how to live don't I?

Serena - I thoroughly enjoyed myself in between doing the boring outside tidying up. I have a small shady bed in the front garden which is filled with helebores, cyclamen and snowdrops. A real joy at the moment as it is the second year of flowering since I planted it and it is starting to bulk out.
