    Morning all

Soappie hope you feel better soon

Serena - is it today you go to France? If so hope you have a lovely day

MOozy - wish we could have stayed longer, DS3 learnt to ski; great nursery slope with button lift and a jump. Took him up on the chair on the last day down the blue which was a bit trying as it was steep and heavy snow at the top but is a lovely woodland track once you get down the first bit. My skiing is back to where it was 6 years ago which was a huge achievement for me as I'd completely lost my nerve.

Triker good luck with your ff I always use JL, we have a store in town though and thus free delivery.

    Plan for today:

    Finish unpacking
    change DS2 bed
    change our bed
Washing, washing and a bit more washing
    Food shop

    This weekend

    Gardening
    kids homework
    DS3 to finish TQs
    celebrate sisters 40th
    boys football refing x3
    cricket
OH to wash car in and out for my birthday

:hello: Hex, Boddy, Vanilla, Embb, Mudders

OH has already spent an hour trying to track down the missing bag - it could be a long day.

The thing that really set me off with my Great Uncle was a one liner about him on a sort of UK Japanese PoW website which put up some records which have survived from the camps.

    All it said was

    <abc xyz> - a fine piano player.

One wonders how they got to know that and was that really all he was remembered for?

But, dinner is cooking so I need to go stir things...
If he was able to provide some music in the POW camp, then I'm sure it was greatly appreciated. Music can have a huge effect on the emotions, and can really help you to keep going/stir up memories of happier times, and I expect that a little happiness in such a terrible place would have meant much to all the fellow prisoners. :A

  • My Grandfather being in the Navy helped cos they've got his service record, but trying to piece together the snippets of info about how and where he died is much more difficult. And as for my Grandmother .......... well, a few skeletons in the closet there :o  Certainly not uncomplicated stories by any means, but then they're not boring either. As I mentioned before, Grandfather's service life and death reads like a film script!!

Oh, and HHI done so if I go and update my list, Toots can give me a star :D
Just catching up, so don't know if someone has already asked this, but waht are the skeletons? Sounds intriguing! I love stories about people that lived years ago, they all seemed to have such interesting lives.

Easy day for me today :T :j The children have done most of this already, so I'll get them hoovering and sorting out their bookshelves later :D Luckily, we had a couple of family Movie Nights earlier in the week, as DS is off to Scout Camp this evening until Sunday ;)

DH is off work today, so we're off into the garden - we have fruit bushes to plant :j and we want to move the chooks back to their summer quarters.

    See you later, Penny. x
