PS2 Online Gaming

I am considering a change of broadbrand provider, currently with BT and have a 1mb connection with 20gb usage allowance. The problem is is my husband is keen on playing online games using his playstation, he plays for approx. 3/4 hours a day. My daughter also has a laptop but usage is pretty light with that, less than 10 music downloads a week, messenger, etc for around 3 hours a day. My PC is only used to look at moneysavingexpert.com's web site, check bank statements, check BBC news etc. Nothing too heavy just the odd music file download. Would i be ok with a 2 or 6 Gb usage allowance or will i have to stay with my current usage allowance? Any help much appreciated, thankyou.

not a clue to be honest but ... if you hover your mouse over the conection symbol (bottom right) just before you log of you can see how many bytes youve downloaded/uploaded - means between you and your daughter you can see how much you two use in a day, then just multiply by 31 (days)
Ive not used a ps2 online so have no idea how to tell what sort of usage it equals, hopefully someone else will have an idea about finding that out
The just times that by 31 (days) and add to the usage from your computer and laptop and it should give you a pretty good idea of you monthly usage0 -
I am currently with AOL until March but am leaving them to join Tiscali, the package I want with them is £17.99 and offers the following:
- Unlimited Limit (Fair Usage Policy Applies)
- 2MBPS
- Also, Free Evning and Weekend calls in UK
check out their website at https://www.tiscali.co.uk, I checked with their account line and apparently they support all modems/routers, although I suggest you check the freephone number before signing up.

Hi
From my own personal experience I wouldn't recommend anyone sign up to Tiscali, they are one of the worst providers around.
Fair Usage Policy, absolutely, what this means is if you download more than they think, they will reduce your speed to a snails pace, between the hours of 6pm to 11pm Monday to Friday, and also certain times on Sat & Sun.
There customer service, is appalling, unless you like paying £1 a min, They're speeds are totally unreliable, and slow, and if you ever have any problems its never their fault, its either yours or BT's.
Don't just take my word for it have a look what their customers are saying about them.

Avoid them like the plague, they really are the pits
Hope this helps0 -
I did try to sign up with Tiscali but they got my telephone number wrong! After umpteen calls to customer service to try and rectify the situation i eventually gave up, will carry on the search for cheapest access with large download limit. Thanks for all the replies.0

I play online games on my ps2 for maybe an hour a day plus I do some occasional downloading. My usage is around 2 gb a month.
I think 6gig would be plenty for your requiremnts although it does depend on what music your daughter downloads. For example if she's downloading a full original format album that's 750mb per album, a fuill mp3 album would be about 85mb. Check with her as 10 of these a week may put you over your limit.
It might be worth thinking of an unlimited package in that case.

for isp reviews and avoid Tiscali like the plague - they have some awful feedback.Fortune's always hiding, I've looked everywhere......0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the warning about Tiscali, has anyone ever used Toucan Broadband, as they offer a similar package for £16.99 a month.
