I work on social fund, we heard a rumour it was gonna be increased but nothing official as yet. I process SSMGs, you have to get the CTC2 element but your TC award notification doesnt tell you whether or not you get this element so the best thing to do is apply. SF staff have a view only facility of the TC screens, maybe if you give them a call they will have a look for you, I always do!!

I'm trying to work out what i am entitled to and it looks like booger all !
I'm now 5 months pregnant so i'm looking into what i may / may not be entitled to.
I live with my B/f who is Self employed so if he has no work we have no money, i currently work 37 hours a week and earn £15,000 and i've been told that i will only be entitled to £44 a week !
My b/f has 2 children from a previous marriage and he has joint custody of them so they stay with us for a week and then the go to their mums for a week etc.
He gets nothing for this either.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, i really don't want to have to go back to work after the baby is 6 months old as i think that a mother should stay at home with her children but i can't seem to see how i can not put it into nursery and go back0 -

.
You'll get maternity pay SMP or MA. Whatever your tax credit award is you'll get an additional £10 a week for babys 1st year and if this baby is your first and the eldest in your family you'll get higher rate CB £17 per week.0 -
Hi spendless,
Yes sorry i got carried away with myself
I called them yesterday and they worked out that i'll be entitled to £44 a week.
My Maternity pay is for the 1st 8 weeks 90% of my wages, it then goes down to £106.?? a week.
After the 6 months my maternity money stops, so i have to make a decision by then.
My mortgage is £600 a month and we also have a car to run, with 4 mouths to feed, nappies blah blah blah £44 is a scary thought :eek:0 -
Did they include the extra £10 a week baby element in that figure? (paid till baby is 1). Also add on your £17 a week CB, so you've either got £61 or £71 a week, plus your maternity money for next 6 months.
As to going back to work could you work evenings/weekends when dad is at home if you can't manage on one wage.0 -
Thats true i suppose,
it just seems so harsh, even £71 a week to pay for everything including food for the other 2 kids which i don't begrudge or anything, but they just eat and eat !!!
It wouldn't be so bad if my b/f had a steady wage every week / month but he doesn't, last year was his first year in business so he only cleared about 2K !! That won't pay the mortgage even if we save the money i get every week!0
