  • A MAC address is a code given to hardware that conects to the internet - sort of a unique identifier.

    I doubt very much that the mac address is locked.

    Some ISPs do lock MAC addresses to stop you using other equipment except their own. Some more advanced routers allow you to change the MAC address they send, so your ISP thinks you are still using their equipment. The 205 doesn't let you do this though.

    I don't believe that ISP's lock MAC addresses to stop you using other equipment!

    Some ISP's will only support a single MAC address i.e. you can only use one at any one time but this is not so that the ISP thinks that you are still using their equipment.

    If you are using a router, supporting a single MAC address is not a problem.

    ;)

    @tigermatt

    Can you give an example of an ISP who "lock MAC addresses to stop you using other equipment except their own" ?
