Ok. I have worked with Paul Mckenna, and did my NLP training with him and the founder of NLP Dr Richard Bandler. Paul is exceptional at what he does, and is one of the best hypnotists in the world in my opinion. Bandler is an unmitigated genius, almost without equal, although Tony Robbins is superior in some areas.
The techniques and skills Paul can teach people are extremely usefull. NLP, Timeline therapy and Thought Field Therapy work on the subconsious aspects of the brain, and don't require "will power". As an example, one of my employees wanted to give up chocolate, which is very easy to do. it took me about 15 minutes, and 6 months on she hasn't touched the stuff.
Saying anyone can be a hypnotist is like saying anyone can be a brain surgeon. Technically this is true, but not everyone is going to put the years of practice andf learning into becoming either. I suspect the hypnotist you saw was feeling a tad envious0 -
TajaK I don't disagree with you, NLP is a well evidenced therapeutic intervention, but I really don't see how effective one session delivered tohall full of people0

I found this thread when I was looking for a support group for people doing the I Can Make You Thin book.
I also considered going to a seminar, but decided to buy the book instead. I have the 90 Day Success Journal too (about £6.99 I think).
It has helped me, but not as much as I'd like, and I was having trouble finding time to listen to the CD every day etc, so I looked for an online support group. There actually isn't one, so I started my own on Yahoo, but now I need people to join it, as a support group of one isn't going to help me much. LOL
If anyone is interested the subscribe email address is: ICMYTsupport-subscribe@yahoogroups.co.uk (I think I'm allowed to post that here as it's not profit oriented?).
Anyway, if it helps anyone I'd be very pleased.

I've been to one of his seminars and have the I can make you thin cd/book and unfortunately it didn't work for me or my friend that I went with. Its not a magic solution and it's down to yourself to change your eating habbits. We booked very late(3 days before) and they did us a special deal for two tickets.Smootchie Bootchies!0

Takaj, thanks for posting,I totally agree with you.
Paul has stopped me smoking, I hate to think where I would be now without his Change you Life in 7 Days book, and also the I can make you Thin books works for me too.
But then Im not the type to go about things with a pessimistic attitude. I actually want things to go well for me.
I have seen others use his Stop Smoking Now DVD or CD and carry on smoking as a defiant way of saying `Cant effect me, Im as strong as an ox I am!`
(It was mainly men who took that approach Iv noticed).0 -
I haven't but my flatmate has. She went this summer as she interested in losing weight (obviously) and also NLP training.
We discussed this in depth before hand about the values of going etc as you are discussing. In the end as she is desperate to lose weight she decided she would go with an open mind and hope to learn some techniques to help.
She already had the 'I can make you thin book' and cd etc but what the seminar provides is practical ways to implement the tapping and visualisation techniques.
She also found that it helped her understand her emotional attachment to food, what triggers her eating and ways to improve her eating. She also met some good friends who she is in touch with still today.
Already her eating has improved, she's making better choices and is able to stop eating when full, leaving food on the plate. If you are an over eater you will know what I mean by that.
Weight loss is 1 stone 4lbs to date and she is maintaining her gym and journal routine. I have never seen her so enthused about eating well and making the right choices, especially as Paul advocates no diet as such but eating anything in moderation making smart choices, eating when hungry and stopping when full.
I know she doesn't regret a penny of that cost for the seminar.Boots Card - £17.53, Nectar Points - £15.06 - *Saving for Chrimbo*2015 Savings Fund - £2575.000 -
Paul is teaming up with Gmtv in january to do the think your self thin thing . I think there is a post on gmtv web site about people who are wanting to join in with it . I've got the books and did listen to the cd every night but I seemed to fall asleep to it so not sure if it works . One strange thing was that my down fall is savory snack more than sweet stuff and after listening to the cd I totally went off crisps and that was with no trying to on my part i just didn't want to eat them . Strange if anyone can explain it please feel free . I have to say I'd love a session 1 to 1 with paul as i think that way would work .......
that and he's cute lol0 -
There are some members of the ICMYT yahoo support group who have been to the live seminars, and say they're great. A couple have been twice, they found it so beneficial.
I think that if you can find someone who's been before and wants to go again, you could both get a discount (but I'm not 100% sure about that).
My mum is a hypnotherapist, and the majority of her clients are seeking to lose weight and/or stop smoking. You could go and see a local practitioner (make sure they're qualified and appropriately registered) for less than the cost of Paul McK's seminar. It depends on whether you feel that a 1-to-1 session will be more beneficial or not.
Also, the other posts are right when they say you have to work at it, but listening to the ICMYT CD regularly, and keeping a diary of how you're doing can help a lot (it doesn't have to be the 90-Day Success Journal, but that's good too).
