Paul McKenna

Options
Has anybody been to a Paul McKenna weight loss seminar please? I have looked at the website and there is one taking place this Saturday and also 11 March. Its almost £300 for the day so it's a big decision. Would be grateful for any info or help.

No but I have seen good write ups on his books with CDs - Very reasonable on Amazon (may be cheaper than a seminar).

Why don't you try his book first, they're about £5 in Asda.

It didn't work for me at all but I am really sceptical so probably not the best person to judge it. My husband swears by his 'Change your life in 7 days' book though so there must be something in it.

It'll definitely be a cheaper option and for what I've seen of his TV show and clips from the seminars he uses very similar techniques to those described in his book.

Failing that try WeightWatchers, I lost 3 stone with them!

    Hi,
I haven't been to his seminars, but i have his book with the cd, confidence, and also change your life in 7 days. I found both books and cds that helpful, i went to see a hypnotherapist.

ohhhhhhh I wish i was going to one of his seminars!!!!!

Good luck with the weight loss

  • If it stops you spending £300 on food you shouldn't be eating because you are following his weight loss tips, yes it is. Why not buy the book and cd and if they help you splash out on his £300 seminar later in the year - there are bound to be many more.
  • Thanks to everyone who has replied to my query about Paul McKenna. I have the 'I can make you thin' book and cd and I've found it to be really interesting. I am considering the seminar not so much for massive weight loss but more for the techniques he uses. I haven't seen his tv programme. If the seminar is just a 'padded out' version of his book then it would not be good value so this is why I am hoping to find someone who has tried it. Thanks again to all.
  • I watched the Paul McKenna will make you thin series on TV and I was put off by his showy/American style. I also found because I am a natural skeptic that some of his techniques were of little use. It appeared to me that they would work best on people who are fairly easily swayed/tempted by things and needed something else to believe in so as to counteract temptation.

The basic premise of how to eat (his golden rules) seem sound and I am trying to think about what I eat now but I wouldn't spend £300 pound to line his pockets unless you can justify it as paying for entertainment.

    The show's website basically gives you all the facts you need to know, see below;

  • i went to see a hypnotheripist and he told me that anyone can do this hypnosis for you not just paul mckenna you are just paying fot his celebrity status my advise DONT WASTE YOU MONEY do like i am doing and save up for surgery the lap band if you are an compulsive over-eater like myself it`s the only way forward e-mail me for more info if you like

  • my mother went to one of his seminars about 5 months ago.

Its nothing last the last post suggests - it very logical and tells you a process that can work for some people. My mother thought the money was worthwhile and that Paul McKenna was excellent. Don't expect to be hypnotised or have an instant cure. Its basically mind over matter but as I say it does work for some people. The books don't apparently give you the same obvious motivation that the seminar does.

    Good luck.
  • Hi there
If you really wanted to go down that route why don't you book yourself a session with a hypnotherapist. Paul McKenna certainly isn't the only hypnotherapist that uses the techniques that he does (although if you believe the hype you would think he invented the whole concept of hypnosis!)
If you booked a one-to-one session you would get the benefit of the expertise of a therapist who deals with people in your situation day to day. Unlike a showman who makes a fortune from cramming a hall full of people at 300 pounds a time each. There is often emotional reasons for weight gain/our relationship with food and these could be dealt with much better one to one.
If you want to pm me for any further advice on choosing a hypnotherapist then please feel free, I am a qualified hypnotherapist so I can tell you what to look out for.
