Entitlement to Income Support

Just wondering whether anybody can help or has any ideas if/what i could be entitled to;
I have just bought my first home so finances are tight. My partner lives with me, but is not on the mortgage, as he is self employed and doesnt have a great credit history.
He has been out of work now for some 2months, however, has been told that he cannot claim benefits whatsoever, due to the fact that he lives with me and i work 35 hours per week and his NI contributions are not up to date, being self employed....!!!
Anybody have any idea if there is something that we would be entitled to as any help would be appreciated at this moment in time !
Seems that the system is all wrong, as he has worked continously for 12 years, having never claimed anything and is out of work now due to the fact that there is no work around and not out of choice !!!!!0 -

How much do you earn?
Do you have any children?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Hi I wonder if someone can help me. I have been on maternity leave for a year and am due to go back to work in July. I have two children, one is 2.5 years old and the other is 11 months. I'm going back fully time, my mum will look after them for three days and they will be in nursery for the other two days. The approximate weekly cost for both of them to go in nursery is £150. I am trying to work out whether I should do the childcare vouchers or the working tax credit in order to get help with the cost of nursery. I think you can claim for both but am not sure which would be the better option. Has anyone been in the same situation?

Well done! It is nice to see that there are some compassionate people left in the world people are too judgmental these day's! Hope the job goes really well for you :-)0

Hi, can anyone advise please. I am disabled with condition worsening to the point that partner moved in full time to help with bathing,shopping,cleaning as well as holding down a job which has 12 hour shift. Would he be able to claim carers allowance as we only have his wage along with My small High Rate Disability and Employment Assistance Support Allowance. Thanks everyone0

Hi
I'm never sure how to navigate this site,not sure if this is the benefits board,if not could anyone provide a link to it please ?
My query is,at the moment i live alone,the only benefit i receive is Income support,i'm on long term sick.
If my partner who is working moved in with me,what happens with my benefit,presumably i get less because he's living with me,i'm not sure how it works,would i get my benefit cut?
Thank you for any help.0 -
Hi metoyoubear,
Yep, this is the Benefits board! It might be easier for you to start a new thread, but if you're not sure how, we'll try to help here.
If your partner works, it is likely that all of your IS will be lost. You may still be entitled to some help with housing costs. How much does he earn?Gone ... or have I?0
