sorry didn't know where else to post - but had very odd experience with Luton Boots today...
I saw someone shifty in the same aisle pick something up, but didn't see them put it back down.. ok - maybe I blinked and missed it. so I watched. Two items disappeared. I went to go and tell a member of staff nearby, only to be told "yeah well everybody's at it"
I then went to look for another member of staff to get the manager's name - needless to say it was his day off, and as he's new she didn't quite know how to spell his name!
unbelievable. wish I had filmed it, cos people just don't believe me!
My DS girlfriend works in a Boots Alliance pharmacy, the SA's are actively discouraged from approaching shoplifters for fears over their own personal safety. She often has to look on while people openly steal from the shop and isn't able to do anything about it. Usually it will be regular customers who come in daily to collect their methadone prescriptions, often under the influence of drugs even though they are supposed to be "clean".
The job of approaching shoplifters is for the security staff, sometimes assisted by the police. In a smaller store there may be no security guard or in a larger one he could be on a break or busy elsewhere.
It still doesn't excuse the attitude of some SA's when a theft is being reported by a customer but in reality often their hands are tied and they just have to look on and hope that the cameras are recording the incident.
The subject of over zealous SA's on the SS tills comes up from time to time. There was mention on these boards a couple of months ago of an SA on the SS tills in a large store who foiled a major scam involving the fraudulent use of what turned out to be forged nappy vouchers. The fraudsters had altered the barcodes somehow and were putting high value items like perfume through the SS tills and getting them free by using innocent looking MOC's for Huggies. It was thanks to her vigilance that these people were caught, the fraud was costing Boots many thousands of pounds each day.
I know we grumble about "keen" SA's who question every voucher as if it was coming out of their own wages getting in the way of our bargain and glitch hunting but they are actually just doing their job and aren't just being dragons or spoilsports. If they haven't seen a voucher before or if something just doesn't add up then they have every right to question it IMO. At the end of the day it doesn't come out of their wages but they are reprimanded if they accept vouchers in error. The quiet little Saturday girl who customers take advantage of is likely to lose her job over it.
A big thanks to the lovely SA in Arnison centre Boots who made my DD's day today. She and her friend had each bought a reduced FCUK bodyspray on clearance, DD with her points and her friend using cash. They then realised that that they could have got 342 as FCUK was on offer, but DD had earlier spent the remainder of her points on chocolate (which she had eaten) and her friend had no more money so they coudn't get a refund and start again. The SA just gave each of them a free bodyspray and a smile. Nice things do happen :A

has anyone seen any olay total effects cream wash in any of the stores because its not online
this is my 4th question now. sorry0 -
what section is the soap and glory stuff in?
It can actually be found in a couple of different sections - skincare section (although not all Boots seem to stock the 'skincare' range) its in White/Black red packaging & looks like this & strictly speaking this is the range these vouchers are for ie the NEW range. I bought some 1st time today and the vouchers didn't beep!! Or the pink range which can be found in bathing section and looks like this which is what we've all been using the vouchers for so far!!

Took Mum shopping today and we headed to Boots first. When we got into the store both ACMs were down so headed for lunch and came back to Boots later.
When we returned a couple of hours later I headed straight for ACM with Mum's AC. She was stunned by the number of vouchers I was printing out.
£5 off P+P x 3
150 points with T+G x3
150 points with TS x3
250 pts with £30 spend
Unfortunately by that time she'd had enough and was ready for heading home. She didn't quite get the idea about needing to choose T+G or TS hairspray, so she got JF spray instead. At least she was able to use 1 of my £2 hair vouchers.
Next.. to skincare. She didn't want to look at moisturiser but said she needed wipes. She chose 2 packs of Boots organics (or something like that) She thought she was doing well with 2 for £5. I calmly took them from her and headed for the Roc ones. I gave her those and explained that she could get 3 packs for £4.47 with 3 of my £5 wrinklies.
SA was very friendly. We laughed at how easily these wrinklies breed. There was no problem in putting items through as 3 separate sales, to be able to use 3 x £5 vouchers. She said that she had got a few packets, and had recently stocked up with No7 wipes when they were on offer. She then handed me another wrinklie as I'd spent more than £5 with the hairspray and 1 lot of wipes.
At least Mum has realised that the ACM is useful and has already planned a visit next time we are shopping. It's a start!
As I'm still on holiday tomorrow I think I might just pop out to visit the Bathgate branch. They may have some interesting bargains0 -
