Just want to add that its only the big Debenhams Stores that have Wedding Dress departments - their website will tell you where the nearest one is.

    Here is my dress...

Bear in mind I didnt like it on the picture, and didnt recognise it as the same dress when I saw it in the shop - when I tried it on it is perfect!

Forgot to say that I am blessed with curves (36E) and matching generous hip / bum etc - the boning in my dress means that a bra is not a pre-requisite, despite my bust size, but I am on the hunt for a strapless body to keep the jelly belly under control!
  • Hiya,

On ebay tonight, I saw dresses made to measure. They are made in China, you enter your exact measurements, and they make it to measure and ship it to you.

Have no experience of buying wedding dresses off ebay, but thought this may be a reasonable way of getting one that fits perfectly at a good price. I think they produce copies of the styles advertised.

When DH and I married, all the dresses i tried on in my regular size were too small. I was a 10-12 then, and had a 14 dress. Also, I tried on a BHS separates, and the size 16 top was tiny, and didn't touch me, so I would beware of sizing in this respect.

    Good luck,

  • i have today seen a nice prom dress for sale went and tried it on and it fits perfect- it is a bodice all covered in beads and secquins, and the skirt is attached is long and flowing, i can wear this without a bra - it fits really snug so if i lost a little more weight it should fit even better - the colour is a sort of shimmering lilac which can look pink as well depending on how the fabric falls - i didnt want to go for ivory wedding dress as this is a registry office wedding and my bridesmaid is wearing cream - the dress is for sale at £75.00 brand new just end of stock, do you think this would be ok to wear, just a little worried i have to let her know by monday if i definetely want it.

Only you know if it's right for you, it sounds like you are not sure. I think you will automatically know if it is right. I was in a similar situation, had 4 months to find a dress with the added problem of being a size 20 so not being able to try many on in the first place. I did however get a dress through pronuptia, an Alfred Angelo one. They were able to order this within 4 months, they said at the time that Alfred Angelo were one of the quicker ones and offered an express service. My dress was actually one of their bridesmaid collection as well although I would have said it was definately more bride than bridesmaid. An Ivory a line halterneck dress with a coloured beaded insert in the neckline.
  • no i do like it, it fits perfect and is a lovely colour just i am not a dress person the last time i wore a dress it was my 1st wedding 17 years ago.
