Looking for a wedding dress for wedding in 4 months !

Please can anyone assist I am getting married in 4 months, 2nd wedding for me and registry office - foolishy not looked for a dress before as I have just had unsuccessful IVF treatment and was under a bit of stress. I am finding it very hard to get a dress all the Bridal Shops have said I am far too late now in ordering a dress - I have been looking at Prom Dresses as I want a full length quite full in the skirt dress, however all the shops seem to just stock small sizes, anyone have any ideas as to what I could do, I dont mind travelling any distance if I am able to get a dress that fits (somewhat with alterations) and something I like.
I was thinking of ordering off the EBAY site sweet send however I am a unusual size of 18 - 20 on top and 14 - 16 on bottom.

Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Have you tried Debenhams in their bridal departments? I didn't look at their wedding dresses but all the bridesmaid dresses in the same section went to bigger sizes

No I have looked online for Debenhams Dresses how they only seem to be rather plain unless you want a full ivory dress with train etc, which I think will be over the top for my small affair, but I will have a look just to see.

    Thanks

  • I bought an "off-the-shelf" dress just because it was my favourite from the hundreds I tried on! It was a little local shop but the label is from Kelsey Rose - you could try looking for a stockist in your area: http://www.kelseyrose.co.uk/Brides-Guide.html

I organised my wedding in 3 months including the dress. I went to a normal bridal shop explained the short time scale and they were great. First they found all the dresses I liked that were close to my size. When I chose which one I wanted they had it altered and cleaned ready for my big day. If they don't mind you having it 'off the rack' and altered then you should be fine.
    Good luck:D

I also had off the rack- i fell in love with it, it fitted like a glove and was in immaculate condition. They also knocked a fair bit of money off.

trouble is as i am quite large busted i dont know whether i could wear a dress with no shoulders in i dont know whether a strapless bra would hold me up sufficient plus most of the off the rack ones all seem to be a petite 10 -12 there was hardly anything for size 18 and over.

  • Also try Monsoon, they have lovely dresses at reasonable prices (you could dress a bride cheaper than a bridesmaid!).

Hi Ladypink and congratulations on your upcoming wedding :)

I bought my dress as a "sample" dress, ie off the rack, and I took it home the same day. I just need to go back for alterations. At the shop I went to, they had quite a few size 16s and 18s. You could always get a dress that fits your top half and then they can take the bottom half in.

Failing that, I remember on the BHS website they had some nice full skirts and seperate tops that weren't too flashy, but were definite bridal wear. You could try those in different sizes.

It may be worth phoning around some bridal shops in your area and explain what you need and see what they have in stock. It will save time and stress traipsing around the different shops.

Good luck and keep us updated :)
