yes like leather furniture they use a chemical on it. it needs cleaning off with soapy water and then airing.
try a carpet shampoo job.
not sure if its harmful or not to kids and pets, but i wouldnt take any chances.
DO NOt wash the new carpet! Any guarantee will be invalid and you will not get rid of smell. Is the carpet 100% synthetic? If so there is no dressing of any kind, even if it is partly wool or cotton the chances of any preservative causing a smell are slight. Go back to the supplier and get them to check it out. Possible it got wet before delivery to you.0 -
its a cord carpet doesnt really have a damp smell to it and was delivred in plastic wrapping and didnt feel wet or damp when it arrived or when i was fitting it0
