Oh no I only have their old capped rate until 30/06/06.Then they will give me a £36 bonus refund back.Drat I guess I should then expect approx 40%increase on my direct debit.I was really enjoying the energyhelpline search engine showing me that I pay approx.£492 pa now but I should really be paying over £650+
    I can't wait....

I was reading this forum on friday 10/2/06 and had noticed this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=137203 .

Great, I thought, I'm paying far too much with EDF (seeboard region). So I checked the comparison sites & sure enough Scottish Power came out cheaper. So, I go through Quidco to Scottish Power to start the process. Scottish Power's own calculator shows a saving, & with £46 from Quidco I'm doing OK. Then yesterday, for some reason, I only just noticed this thread about the price increase (don't know why I didn't see it on Friday, as it was started on Thursday  ). I then checked the comparison sites to see that it will be more expensive to change  .

I received the "welcome" mail from Scottish Power today, but I think I will stop the process & forego the Quidco cashback & start all over again  .

Before you do that why don't you look at exactly how much more the price rise is going to cost you. It might still be cheaper than EDF overall when you take into account the cashback. Its also worth bearing in mind that EDF and everyone else will no doubt push their prices up in the next 2 or 3 months. Its like chasing a headless chicken this game, its by no means the easiest or simpest way to go about money saving.
  • Same as you manic. I am in the process of changing to scottish power. I don`t feel inclined to stop the process as I am convinced the others will follow and may well be dearer

    bargains83 & kittie,

Thanks for the replies. I'm inclined to agree with both of you. I'm going to stick with the change over & keep an eye on things in the coming months.
