My Or Interview

Hi again,
Well here is my story of my interview, sorry its taken a week to post! Its long, but could well help some of you in similar boat
Phone rang bang on time, Wife was up first, but put phone on speaker so i could hear and help answer. Fisrtly we spoke about teh house, when we remortgaged, and what we did with the money., we answered as best we could and then she moved on to our car. this could be interesting for anyone else in similar situation! The car is my fathers and he is loaning it to us, its worth about £250, now as we pay insurance, mot, general upkeep, the OR classed it as our asset! were actually allowed to keep it, but i would like to know how they have the power to take it if its registered to someone else?
Now comes the real grilling!!! creditor list, Wife took out a loan last year, and used for holiday, this didnt go down well. also i got a CC with £500 on twds the end of last year, this didnt bode well either, the rest of the debt was from 3/4 years back, i didnt have a clue who the debts were too (as theyre with collection agencies now) let alone what i used money for, so i had to make some up. This part of the interview i found the worst, im only thankful i was at home and not in an office! I then informked her that i had some debts that were included in my IVA, but didnt have a list to hand, this really cocked things up as she said she couldnt go any further without them as they all had to be listed! luckily i found a creditor list, but it was for the original creditors and had no reference numbers. theyve probably all been sold on now.
Now to my SOA, I put £650 food etc, (2AD 3CH) this was amended to £600.
Holiday fund was not allowed
I pay £200 maintainance, this wasnt allowed, as its not thru CSA/Court
However my wages have gone down aswell, so she amended that and it left me with a defecit surplus, so no IPA!!
everything else was allowed, i have to buy back the Life policy for £50, its been running 2 years and ive put weight on, so it would probbaly make a new policy more expensive, plus i would have to wait until discharge to get one, and hey a lot could happen in a year!
One thing to note, if you find the whole joint SOA thing too complicated, and your both going BR, i just did one SOA and used the same in each petition, she knew what i was talking about, and didnt find it a worry at all, The OR is also informing my landlord, as its private, they have to apparantly!
She asked me would i be happy to accept a BRU, I said yes, as its my 2nd BR and personally i feel i deserve one, and it may keep me out of trouble. Now she said she would prepare a report to the OR, and a further face to face interview may be neccesary, That i dont want, so lets keep fingers crossed.
and that basically was that, 4 hrs long in total. The examiner was fair, and professional, but when she needed to she was harsh, like with the questions of why i took out debt when in trouble. But thats her job and i respect that.
oh yes,
We had 2 mobile phone contracts, she advised me she would write to O2 and advise them, but i had to inform them also, i did this and they told me that they would disconnect! its their policy, but they have let me keep both phones and numbers on a PAYG basis, and that works out cheaper!! RESULT
also im self employed but have a contract with a lage national company, i lease all my van, tools, diesel off them, and they deduct from my earnings every month, OR said, as its a contract and ALL CONTRACTS CEASE UPON BR
I had to inform them. NOw usually they would terminate me, but the local manager spoke to head office and is happy for me to carry on!! RESULT no2
All in All im releived, i just hope i dont get a 2nd interview. Ther e you go, i hope you find this useful, i wasnt alowed to waffle to the OR so i did it here!!
Good luck anyone still going thru this, Im happy to help any of you if i can. Any furtehr developements i will post.

Thats a great 2nd BR story - its always worrying that the ORs are going to be really horrible to two-timers.0

Sounds like you got a strict OR. Thanks for sharing - some interesting points there regarding the car. I think you would have had to fight something like that if she didn't allow you to keep it. I don't think she has the power to take it away if it is your father's car. They do make mistakes sometimes. I'm not 100% sure she had to inform the company you have a contract with either but at least you got a positive result for that too.
I hope you don't get a f2f as well!

it was 10 years ago, my first one. she didnt ask any questions about it, it never came up in the interview at all until i said at the end that i deserve a BRU for that reason0 -

Good post. Very informative.
1. Not sure she is correct though on the car being an asset. Can not see if it belongs to someone else how it can be your asset
. Would like to know the views on this from DD,ADTC and JSC1.
2. If they are thinking about imposing a BRU then a FTF interview is an almost definate.
3. The maintainance has been mentioned before, that they can not allow it if not through a proper legal channel.
Ah well lets hope all goes quiet for you both now.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

She wouldnt tell the company i work for, but told me that as it was a legal contract, that i had to. I think that being honest with the company did me a favour though. i just cant beleive that she is writing to landlord! just hope shes ok,, we dont owe rent and have no problems paying it0 -
In the property climate at present, your LL would be daft to get rid of you. Your arguement is that you have no other debts, can afford the rent - plus they are unlikely to rent it again easily at present so the rental void (even just 2 months) would outweigh a good tenant. Then hand over the petrol station bunch of flowers you bought, with a grin on your face!0

Oh and FYP - you can have number 002! I'll save it for you!0
