Thank you. I had a tough time debating about buying the Easiyo at the weekend. Kids get through £4 of Muller corners (the cereal ones) a week and would have more if I bought them! DH and I have the Alpro ones - DH asthmatic and finds dairy is a trigger.
I'll have a go at some of these and report back on how it works out.

I have just 'acquired' a yoghurt maker from the back of my mum's boiler cupboard where it had been lingering for years, looking forward to getting stared. Just one quick question - do you have to buy 'live' yoghurt as your starter, or will any yoghurt do? (apologies if this has already been answered elsewhere, search is not being helpful)0

I've read this and it sounds like a good idea, I've just started buying yogurt again, so I'm sure we will use it. I didn't realise the machine was so easy to use.

I have a question though, what about flavoured yogurt. Can I make the yogurt as the receipes above. The maybe blitz some strawberries and mix that in?0 -
another silly question. If I use a flask, do I pour in cold UHT milk - if so how does it turn into thick yoghurt.
Is UHT milk the ones in cardboard boxes on the dry food isles in ie Asda.
What type of yoghurt should i use as a starter?
how long does it keep for once made in the fridge

Does it taste like sour - Im not a great milk drinker and as soon as milk goes off slightly I can taste it in a cup of tea!

What type of yoghurt should i use as a starter? According to this thread it needs to be bio yogurt, a quick look on the Tesco website shows yogs with this name on. The bio part of the yog makes it work

the postman has just delivered my rosemary conley (like the lakeland one)yoghurt maker and i am so excited!!!
i intend making it with uht soya milk as the kids cant have much dairy, has anyone got any tasty ideas for flavouring it (i dont want to buy any mixes as that defeats the point imo) there is no way the kids will it so anything sweet tasting but without loads of sugar would be perfect, thanks:beer:- prior planning prevents poor performance!

Flavouring possibilities are endless. Just look through your cupboards and see what you have. I use honey just stirred in, fruit - mashed banana is good, but any fruit that your children like will do, jam (though watch the sugar). You can use milkshake mixes if you have those, although they would be very sweet. Why don't you just ask your children what they would like and encourage them to experiment? I find the yogurt from my Lakeland maker is very mild and my sister's children are quite happy to eat it, although they do prefer it with something interesting added.0

thats great, thanks. my first batch is in 'cooking' now so i will get thinking! i am really please that its quite mild, for some reason i thought it would be really tart and strong.
one more question, i have bought yeo valley as a starter culture but they only had huge ones, am i right in thinking i can freeze it to use later as a starter? does the freezing not kill the bacterias?- prior planning prevents poor performance!
