Aldi or Asda?

Aldi or Asda. Which one do you prefer and why? Sure this has been asked before, but prices and opinions change with time.
I have started to venture into Aldi for convenience sake. Sure, there are some great bargains, but with the limited choice I actually expected lower prices. At the moment ASDA is my fave - great choice, and plenty of bargains, if that is what you are after...

Aldi seems to have gone up in price a lot recently and a lot of things are cheaper in Asda.0

i prefer asda as i think the value range is cheaper than aldi ....i think asda do better special offers..i like to look at the george clothes and ours seems cleaner and brighter than the local aldionwards and upwards0

I shop in both. Aldi is my closest supermarket and is great for fruit and veg offers, pigs ears and pesto! Anyone who likes pesto Aldi is the best, 7 different varieties, 99p each, amazing. Coconut milk when they have it in is cheaper than anywhere else and their bacon is also definitely worth a look. I tend to get what I can from Aldi and then go to another supermarket for the rest.0

The problem with Asda is that you inevitably end up buying things you don't immediately need because the bargain factor makes it difficult to resist. This means spending more than intended!
On the strength of this thread I shall try to do my next shop at Aldi and make do if they don't have what I need as an MSE challenge.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Aldi for me, you can get in and out and no faffing around waiting for other customers to find they're debit/credit card, or find the right change or look for they're purse they seem to have lost,0

Aldi for me too, Asda is a bit grim.Stompa0

I couldn't do my entire weekly shop in Aldi, however, it is great for toiletries, fruit/veg and meats such as ham, salami and German sausages.0

Aldi, and Lidl come to that, some good prices and its always worth looking at the special offers in the middle isles.
The down side and why I only go occasionally is they mostly have one checkout open out of the six or so they have and a queue snaking down the store. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Aldi Lidl Netto - all such unpleasant messy grubby places, with long queues and few checkouts - on the odd occasion I venture into one of them (can't tell the difference) I come out feeling I could use a shower! Probably being unfair to Netto as I can't actually recall entering one in recent years.
Asda, Sainsburys, Waitrose - all nice clean places with (largely) friendly staff and lots of things you want to buy, often at good prices (yes even Waitrose these days!)0
