How do you use a Bamix ?

jinnywren - I can't answer your specific questions, as I've only had mine for 3 or 4 weeks, and haven't tried any of the things you mention. I have the Swissline, which is very similar to the GR and has the same power motor (200w). I have grated cheese in seconds in the grinder. I've needed caster sugar on a couple of occasions (my weakness is all-butter shortbread:D) and it's dealt with grinding granulated sugar down to caster with no trouble at all. I've even used it to grind egg shell down to the texture of fine sand, literally in seconds.
I'm giong to try the mayo over the weekend, so will let you know how that goes.
I can't see any reason why it wouldn't do the things you mention. They do it in 'real time' on the TV. You see it from start to finish, and I can't see how they could cheat.
I think the question about whether it's worth the money is a difficult one. Mine has a 10 year guarentee, so considering the initial cost, I asked myself how much that was per year, and whether I think a year's use for that money was worth paying for the speed and convenience....For me, it was:)
Morganlefay - It sounds like you had a faulty one right from the start. Shame you didn't get it looked at when you first bought it. Might be worth checking how long your guarentee was for, as you may still be covered.0 -
I've often been tempted when I see the demonstrations on the tv - but I can't bear to part with that amount of money for a bit of kitchen kit.
Saying that, the blender I use for soup stopped working a few weeks back, so I do need to get something soon!0 -
I'm with Morganlefay on this one. I bought one a few years ago thinking it would be wonderful and it wasn't! One of the fiddly bits (can't recall which one) became too loose to fit on, and as it was the one that I used most often, I had to get my husband to fix it on permanently. A total waste of money. In fact, I think it had a 10 year guarantee so I think I'll take it to Lakeland and complain.0

We bought the Swissline about 3 weeks ago, so still learning about it. So far it has been very good, the Swissline comes with a wet & dry grinder, it has chopped onions no prob, cheese with ease, breadcrumbs with no mess. With the bamix on it's own we have done frothy coffee, the low fat milk into a creamy consistency no problem. We have done the best scambled egg ever by fluffing up the mixture before putting in pan, also great for making a fluffy omelette.
Looking forward to doing more out of the recipe book, so I think it was worth the money for the time saving & ease of use & with a 10yr guarantee nothing to worry about.

Can anyone tell me about the Bamix blender?
Is the Gordon Ramsey one a good deal.
Is it really strong enough to chop ice/nuts etc.
Will it whip up milk to a creamy froth as seen on Idealworld TV?
Looks good on TV but quite expensive so await your replies.
Thanks:beer:
I'll add this to the existing Bamix thread to keep ideas together

I got mine 6 weeks ago and use it every day. I saw the demo first at the home show when i was 8 and wanted one ever since. I was not dissapointed.
My son loves frozen smoothies for breakfast.
In a pint glass it put about 1/3 ice
1/3 frozen berries (really cheap in asda/freezer shops)
a spoonfull jam
and either fill with milk and yoghurt or juice up to the berries and whizz
its quick and i get him to have something before school.
My fav ones the kids are in bed;
freeze tonic water into ice cube trays and then blend with lemon, a little sugar and gin
I got mine on amazon and didn't get a recipie book so I'm still at the stage of experimenting.0 -
