My daughter moved last week and got several boxes from her nearby MacDonalds, who were happy to help her.
  • I found my local asdas have started putting them out for people to take for free as part of a recycling idea (well thats what the sign above them says).

So might be worth checking your local one out, other supermarkets always used to leave boxes to be taken but I haven't seen them do it very much anymore.
  • Try the NHS Hospital near you. They have hundreds of boxes disposed of everyday. I am in London else would have told you exactly which supplies/theatre deaprtment.

Homebase has started to put them out for people to take. And Mcdonalds are always happy to give you as many as you want.

That's what we did when a friend was moving. Their fry boxes are pretty sturdy, not very big though. They flatten them like most place but a roll of tape and they are back good as new.

  • Oddly enough I've often had to do this - 24hr supermarket's late at night are great.

Staff have always been friendly, though the other customers may give you an odd look when you walk straight through the checkouts carrying 6 or 7 boxes!

  • I moved in December - I went down to Asda everynight at about 8 and they gave me loads - banana boxes are strong and some come with a lid. They were always pleased to help.
  • Try your local garden centre. That's where I got mine from.
    Good Luck.
