working tax credit not paid since day 1

Hi, sorry if this is too long but try to explain everything.
I have been paid child tax credit since 2004 but didn’t get a working tax credit at all. On the tax credit award notice they sad I’m not qualify for the working tax credit. I was on 15k a year and 40h a week. That’s what I have told them over the phone when updated my change of circumstances.
I have found out they should pay me working tax credit when my work partner told me he’s got one (he’s got the same money as me, got a wife and a chiled).
I have contact them again and ask them why I didn’t get the working tax credit, they told me I didn’t give them my working hours so they didn’t know I’m working. I did as every time when you call them they ask you about working hours and income for the next yare + they new I’m getting 15k as a self employed person (so it’s obvious I’m working). On the awared notice thare is nothing about working hours so how could i know they didn`t update it?
They paid me 3 moths back for working tax credit, but don’t want to pay for they mistake for all the years they didn’t paid.
Should I appeal? Should I contact CAB to help me?
When I called them last time I have found out they had a problem on my file as they told me they have a note my payments been stopped in 2005. I have told them I’m getting chilled tax credit right now so they checked payments details and that was ok. So some part of they system wasn’t updated and some was.
My payments were stopped due to them not received sign form from me. I have explained them I did sign and post but might be lost in the post. I have sign new form and they started paying the money again, that’s when I thing they didn’t update all of they system.
Will this might be the problem for them not to pay me working tax credit? It’s they mistake not my. Why should I not get the money if this was they fault?
What do you thing?
Regards
Thomas

I had an issue with working tax credit, I applied and was entitled yet never received any money. Complain to the adjudicator( See link below)
http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/dealingwith/complain.htm
They were brilliant, wrote to HMRC about my complaint within a few weeks, HMRC called me to say they are taking full responsibility and paying me in full as well as compensation.
Good luck!No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Every year you get a full award with all of your details. With this you also get a checklist to go through to make sure you have checked the full details of the award.
You also get an annual declaration which shows your full details. You are given a "Statement of Circumstance" which you are supposed to make sure is correct. If it is incorrect you are supposed to tell TCO.
You should have checked both of these to make sure your details are correct.
It is possible to be "self employed" and do zero hours. You could own property and pay someone to manage your business.0 -
Are you single or married? I though £15K was above the threshold for a single person for WTC. And would be very close to the cut off point for a couple.0

I think its just over 15k as a the limit. Although if you have children I think it goes up a lot more than if you single and childless claiming WTCNo you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Hi
i had the award notice only once in my life. they didn`t send me one every year. when i get the letter last week about payment for 3 months for working tax credit i have call them and ask for tax credit award letter as my wife need it to show it in the collage. they have told me they can`t send me one as they have a problems with it. they are not sending me the money to the bank as from beginning as they have a problems with it as well. i don't know is this connected and is it only me reciving the money by post.
Next thing is i have just called my work partner and hes got 100 pounds a month for working tax credit whare i`ve got only 72 pounds. is ths possible if the selary are the same, hes got a wife and a chiled as well as me?
thanks0 -
If you had no way of knowing that it was incorrect - not having had any award notices - then you should appeal against the award.
However, even with system problems, you would need to renew your claim every year. And with the renewal form you would have the statement of circumstances to check.0 -
In regards to the amount your business partner gets in comparison to you -he may have childcare costs, his previous year income may be slightly different, he or his partner may have a disability, their child may have a disability, your partners may earn different amounts, you may completed your annual declarations at a different time - everyone's award is calculated based on the income and circumstances of the household so it is unlikely that ou will have exactly the same circumstances.0

In regards to requiring an award notice - it sounds as though you are on a manual award so you can get an award.
Phone up and request that they pass you to a manager.
Ask the manager for a manual award. They can do this by sending an "Out of payment Referral" and stating in the referral that you require a manual award.
If you speak to a manager who states this isn't possible you should then ask to make a further complaint and request a call back from the customer relations manager.0 -
My DH earned less than £15K working F/T and was I undertstood he was not entitled to WTC as a single person before we were married- out of interest what is the limit ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
Encouragement always works better than judgement.0 -
The limit for WTC (single person) is just under £13k.
From what I can gather the OP is married/partner with one child.
The limit for WTC (joint claim) is just under £17500.0
