Our debt is spiralling out of control and including a loan of 17k stands at 30k. Urgh!!!! Don't know how it got so big.
After some big money saving tips!!!!!!!! I have worked out how much we are spending and it's not good. Has anyone got any good ideas on how to cut down my 450 month grocery bill!!!!!!!
Any tips any1 can give me would be greatfully received. Just signed up to the site so I suppose it's a good start, but not really sure where to start!!!!

Hi Kat,
They will ask you to do a SOA, or statement of affairs (not an expert but I think there is a sticky on here somewhere to show how to do it,) and they will come up with lots of ideas for how to reduce spending. To reduce your food bills go to the old style board. I personally find the 'Live on £4000 a year' and 'what moneysaving things have you done today' threads on this board are nice and friendly with lots of good advice too. Both this board and the old style ones are very friendly and supportive. Good luck!0 -
Hi kat :hello:
welcome along, to cut your groccies bill you can check the
MoneySaving Old Style board
but maybe we can help with the rest
If you want to do an SOA and post it on here we should be able to see were else you can make savings

thats about the cost of my mortgage.
tip: dont buy unneccessary crap; make a list and STICK TO IT; dont buy crisps & chocos & biccys
its the only way to cut it down. that & go for cheaper goods - the downstep challenge, sure theres something on this site about it.Mr & Mrs Doomcow Wedding Fund: £10200/£18000 (by 04/2012) (spent £2000)

Well you say £450 grocery bill... and yes that is extreemly high - BUT how many are you feeding for that
Are we talking 2 people or a family of 6 - because obviously feeding 6 will cost more than 2
Ages can also play a big part here - toddlers don't actually eat much, 4 hunking big teenagers can plough through a fridgefull in 10 minutes flatDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -
Me and hubby, plus 2 children who are 4 and 9. Both of us work full time so mainly ready meals!!!!! I know throwing money down the drain.
Any tips you have around your grocery bills would be fab! I've seen people who budget at 200 a month and don't even spend all that. That would be a great start to clearing our nasty debts.0 -
like people have said the ols style board is great! You can get lots of tips over there and the grocery challenge is a good way to help get the spend down!
I would say a great way for you to cut down would be to bulk cook and then freeze into meals so you can get them out when needed rather then the ready meals - they cost a fortune! Im by no means a expert but im trying to start doing this and plan to stock up loads before i have my baby to stop the ready meals and take aways!! Also baking from scratch for things like brownies etc - some dont take very long or a lot of effort and will save loads on chocolate bars etc and much healthier....
Good luck and im sure you will do find now you have faced up to what you owe etc!
