What size deposit do people on here have?

I know from reading the forums that certain people have been waiting for house prices to fall for a while, after making the decision not to buy while prices were going out of control.
Certainly NDG had a sizeable deposit, and !!!!!!? is at the stage where he could be mortgage free when he buys, I was just wondering whether this is the norm or not.
I know some people don't want to put actual financial details here like "I have £100k saved up", so if you'd rather put a percentage figure based on the estimated value of the house you'll be going for.
e.g. I might be thinking of spending in the region of £100k on a house and I have £15k saved up, so I'd report a 15% deposit. Alternatively, if you're still saving and will not buy until you have a set percentage rate, then please report that.
e.g. I don't want to live a life of debt, so I wont be buying unless I can put a 30% deposit down.
Just thought it'd be an interesting metric on how many people are poised to buy and at what level of deposit future FTBers will be putting down.
Cheers

~£120k here. Ready to pounce when we find something worth buying, Ie I find something right at the price I will pay.0

I have at least 100% saved up. But I only want a small house. I have no need for a 4-bed detached, but if I had, I've got 80-100% for one of those in most areas too.0

Have a look on the We've saving for a house deposit thread.. Sorry, don't know how to do a link! We're all over their discussing our deposits!£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190

100% deposit0

We have about 125% as we don't want to blow all our cash on a property. It's what we can get for the 100% figure that keeps changing, in ever more interesting ways!0

I'm not saving though. I've got mine. So I'd not want to be there among smug couples with good jobs, shovelling away fortunes every month as I sit here eating dried bread in my bedsit waiting for a job.butterfly72 wrote: »Have a look on the We've saving for a house deposit thread.. till now only really looked at houses in relation to family situation(s) rather than my own but looked online today out of interest. 2009 Prices around here this seem to be quintuple what they were in 1998. Can't tell about flats but current 2 bed flats prices seem to be getting on for 3 times what houses were.
Anyway were I to buy here (north london) I would have a deposit of around 8% of current asking prices for houses (I have less than I thought I would!) - flats more like 13%
Don't think I'll be buying anytime soon!Prefer girls to money0 -
>100% deposit for 2-bed terrace.
Hoping to get a 3-bed semi for that by early 2010. Might even be tempted to take on a small mortgage to get a detached if the government stick with their dangerous inflationary policies.
It's great to see lots of other MSEers out there with large/100% deposits too ... Maybe if the government would just let prices come down to a sane level instead of trying to prop them up there would be a lot of money coming out of 'parking' and into the economy.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -
