Ford Ka and Child Car Seat?
Options
Hi
We have a 2006 Ford KA and would like to get a child car seat to fit, went into halfords some time ago but the fitter said that there were no seats made to fit the Ka (I checked to make sure she did not just mean that they didnt sell any but she was adamant that there were no car seats that fit the Ka)
I wonder if any one had a ford ka and if they use child seats would they mind telling me the make/model (would be looking for a car seat for big 2yr old and small 4yr old to fit in) and how they have found the fit
THanks
Jim

We've had a number fitted as my partner is a child minder and she says that none have really fitted as they officially should. As in you can move the seat a little.
I think the last one was a Britax model with detachable base.0 -
thanks Keith, maybe thats what the halfords fitter meant...I just found it hard to believe that none would fit but I guess she was right. The movement that you have found, was this excessive or did the fitters say that they were still safe?0

They are not safe with movement, crumbs bit of a problem if you have a KA that isn't it. don't accept a bad fit - you would never forgive yourself.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0

thats what I suspected.
We have the main car which has isofix and the Ka is the second car that we use when we dont have the children, as they are getting older it would be useful to have had a car seat for the times where we want to take one of the chilldren out seperatly from the other
I guess I will have to wait a little while and when one is big enough will have to look at the booster seats (although I suspect that could be some time)... you would have thought that at least one carseat would fit this car :-(0 -
have you enquired at a ford dealer? maybe they could recommend one?
if they cant then this is a pretty poor design, after all isnt this what the ka is meant to be aimed at?...work permit granted!0 -
I wouldn't put too much faith in anything you are told in Halfords.
When my daughter went to get a rear wiper blade for her Ka, the assistant, after failing to find it in the book, said: "are you sure your car has got a rear wiper?"
(For your info you have to get these from Ford - and they are not expensive !)
I would try a Ford dealer for the seat/advice.0 -

Not excessive at all, but to judge for yourself get the Halfords boys to take one to your car.
The Mrs hasn't ever considered it unsafe, but she has known that there has been a little movement in the chair.
Re - Rear wipers they are available from any motorfactors0 -
Have you tryed britax 's web site and their car fitting guide?
It tells you where in a vechicle you can put a baby seat.Spending my time reading how to fix PC's,instead of looking at Facebook.0 -
If a fat person can fit in a Ka, I don't see why a child seat couldn't0

hiya, we have a ka and find that Britax are the best fitting. If you go to mothercare they will help you choose and fit the right one, i find them extremely helpful. hth xReclaimed Charges £2433
