    Hi Slapps,

To cut the grease I'd start with something really soapy such as washing up liquid or stardrops if you have it. Once the grease is removed, rinse and then believe it or not one of the best things to give a shine to stainless steel is a little baby oil buffed up with a microfibre.

There's an earlier thread on cleaning deep fat fryers that may help so I'll add your thread to that to keep all the suggestions together.

As shameful as this is to admit, i havent cleaned my deep fat fryer in over 12 months but in my defense i also havent used it during that period either, its just been stored in the cupboard.

I now want to clean it and change the oil (I could really do with a hurling smilie here lol)

Apart from hot water, what else can i use which wont leave an after taste?

    Many thanks

I just use hot water and washing up liquid and give it a good rinsing out afterwards. Make sure to dry it the inside well with kitchen roll to ensure there is no water left inside.

    Hi pixie,

    This earlier thread should help:

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together. This might be useful too:
