Vinegar with bicarb is always good for greasy surfaces, fizzes up nicely and the grease comes off no problem!!!! So that might be an idea next time!!!!

  • Alright it 's not very healthy but I like my chunky chips, so I bought a deep fat fryer from a car boot. Only problem with it is that it is a bit greasy and dusty. How the flip do I clean a deep fat fryer the grease seems to stay. Am I supposed to be using vinegar or something?:rotfl:

Hmmm.... have you thought of cleaning it with oil? Like disolves like... so, try wiping it out with warmed-up vegetable oil to get the clumps and grime. THEN try washing it with some detergent-based cleaner, like Fairy liquid.

Haha - thought this was my thread at first but mine has sunk to page 2.

I'll get my DH to try that :) We have a new pan and I want to freecycle the old one but don't like to even give away gunky goods :o
I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.
  • I don't have one any more (on healthy food only now, lol) but when I did, I always cleaned it by filling it with water and a squirt of Fairy. Turn it on and wait for it to get really hot, then get the washing-up brush round it. It always came up sparkling!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

When I had a deepfatfryer I used Astonish to clean it. Its a kind of paste which comes in a tub, I think it was from the kleeneze people. I am still on my first tub, it lasts for AGES. It cuts right through any build up of grease, I use it on my cooker aswell.
Debt free = December 2010...as of March 2006 it is now January 2010..... as of December 2008 it is now December 2009 :j hopefully sooner!!
:jDEBT FREE:j January 2012, took longer but I got there, all by myself, through sheer hard work and pride!
